Chapter 16 - Point of contact

Bill now had to go to the docks where other desperate ex Slum kids were almost rioting making production impossible to move in and out. He took the carriage with armed men also arming himself with a Hatchet and two revolvers. The scenery leading up to the docks was getting worse as the closer they got. By the time he got there crowds of slums were against a line of workers attacking with sticks, broken bits of wood and iron and other assorted items. When the guns entered via the lads army the attacking crowd took a step back and threatened to throw they're weapons at the gunmen.

"warning shots only, no killing unless they're not listening" bill said to a lad with a trench shotgun, who happened to be second in command right about now.

Most of the lads had small machine guns, shotguns and standard issue rifles all lost from military record due to theft via transport. Ledger of the guns were taken too, even though Bill suspected the ledgers stolen were copies. Second in command fired at the crowd kneecap height knocking a few down but not killing, the slug rounds were kneecappers not busters. The aggression of the foreign crowd turned defensive which gave Bill a chance to speak.

"i have come to understand you are without patch, home and protection. I can help you with this, but it will not come free" once again he looked over the crowd for a reaction, they were listening "no drugs, no misconduct and you get all you require. For spiritual matters we can arrange something for that too"

The crowd now put down a lot of they're weapons, but Bill was not done. He'd ordered the group be directed towards the river where the boats were not present at thus time.

"failure to act accordingly will result" he took out his dulled black revolver and shot one of the people in the crowd still holding a big hammer, the man fell into the river and the hammer with him.

The point was to say without saying that he'd not be bothered if he had to shoot them himself for desertion for proper conduct. They got the point and not one person in the crowd held a weapon. He told the second in command to get this wrapped up before late lunch which meant crowd control, clean up and production going again. Bill had to focus his attention to captain Mosley, which in his eyes was the swine that threw a massive broken spanner in the way of his plans. He took back to the wagon and asked to be taken to the new lads army territory, that were in repair by the ex Slum kids he'd taken under protection under terms of condition.

He couldn't help but find himself thinking of Randall Savage and how he had an answer for everything he threw at him, and yet seemed like he was scoping competition. This thought lingered for a while until he had was interrupted by the driver, "we're here sir, sir?"

"yes thank you, I heard you the first time" he snapped.

So rude of him to interrupt a thought such as that. He jumped off and walked to a crowd of lad's army men smoking and watching something. It was Randall Savage talking to a group of Slum kids with no care that he was being watched. An older rougher looking lad broke his gaze with Bill now on scene.

"he's up to no good sir, I can feel it in my back teeth" the veteran said holding his jaw.

"you don't have any back teeth, but yes I feel it too. Since I met him in fact" Bill responded, his reply getting surprise and slight laughter.

"chuck him in the furnace I say, let his trouble follow forth with" the veteran lad was patriotic and sincere in his words.

"that might cause more trouble, it appears he's an influential factor among the litter" Bill shot the enthusiasm down without a change of tone,"how's the fix going?"

"it'll be done in no time at all, just keep HIM away from it" the veteran pointed at Randall now walking away from the Slum kids.

"can do seargent, can do" Bill patted him on the shoulder and left back to the barracks via the wagon. He needed to find Randall's angle, but he held it close his chest.

Bill knew it would be big, so he had to find out soon. He'd taken the same carriage back to the barracks, a boy was waiting outside the door and perked up when he saw Bill on carriage.

He ran to the carriage right before it stopped, "Mr Hatchet sir, a note for you. The man was dead serious I get it to you"

"what did he look like?" Bill asked taking the note.

"vest, bowler boy hat, rough around the edges. Bad breath too" the boy had to think carefully.

He took now great interest in the note. The note stated he would find his secret police informant outside the factory district by docks after the third unload. He ushered the boy away with a salute and went into the barracks. He knew whom the boy described, it was Randall Savage. That must have been the big secret but it seemed too simple. Savage had not shown himself to be a simple man, and it seemed he'd not be afraid to let loose such a secret as that he works for the secret police.

There was a bottle of whiskey on the table with a note stating 'up stairs I'm waiting'

Could have been one of two people, Randall Savage or Belle. He was actually hoping its Savage so he could see the world burn and end all the bollucks. On the other hand it'd be good to see Belle again, that spicy psychopath lit a fire in his belly that won't die easily. He took both the bottle and the note, going up the stairs into his lodging. He got a little disappointed to see Belle sitting on his bed with two glasses in hand.

He put the note on side table and popped the cork from the bottle.

"you've been gone a while, that have anything to do with the government aircraft used to bomb the industrial area?" he asked with a slight smirk.

"you sneaky bastard, hard to hide anything from you. But yes it was" she offered the glasses to be filled and indeed they were.

They both sculled a glass of whiskey each, then it got heated, "so you know whom I can speak to over this issue?"

He ran his hand gently from side of her neck down to the buttons on her dress chest high as they kissed. She leaned in to undo his shirt pushing him into the side table. She managed to get his shirt off before he got her dress almost slipping off her shoulders. Bill pushed forward to get on his feet better to pick her up by her thighs slightly gripping her buttocks as she held onto his firm shoulders. He placed her on the bed, both still passionately kissing
