Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 Re

Walking aimlessly down the road, I approached the school. My name is Yu, and I'm a high school student, not that anyone cares.

As I sat at my desk, I wondered, when did I become so invisible? No one had tried to approach me lately. It's probably for the best. I don't have anything to lose anyway.

"Was it related to that accident? Hmm," I thought to myself. "But it was definitely a coincidence, though."

Looking out the window, I waited for the day to end. Finally, the bell rang, and I could go home. I was already so hungry after all those classes. I grabbed my things and headed home, only to find him.

"Kir?!" I shouted when I spotted him standing in front of my door. Was it really him? I hadn't seen him in years. He always appeared at the right time, so I wouldn't be surprised if he magically knew how my situation kept getting worse and decided to show up. It wouldn't be the first time.

"Yes, I came back from America today. Wouldn't you invite me in? Or did you forget about your best friend already?" Kir said cheerfully.

"Come in. How could I forget? But you never give a heads-up, do you? Seriously, I might have been out today," I said, opening the door.

"Oh, you actually have someone to be outside with? Since when?" he teased.

I ignored him and opened the door. I hoped I had enough food for him. He normally stayed for a long time before vanishing again as mysteriously as he appeared.

"So, Yu, tell me, how has school been? Boring without me, huh?" Kir asked.

"It has always been," I replied.

"But you seem extra salty about it somehow?" he probed.

"Yeah, they've all been ignoring me since some weird accident. Seriously, it's because of your presents. Stop sending me random things without proper packaging," I snapped.

"Huh? When did I send you anything?" Kir looked puzzled.

"You know what I mean. That black camera. The model was so expensive."

"Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but it wasn't me."

"What do you mean? It's the model we talked about before you traveled. It's so alike!" I insisted.

"I don't know anything about it," Kir responded.

"This is weird...but not the weirdest part," I said, seeing the question in his eyes.

"Yeah? What's the weird part?" he asked.

"Inu and his gang tried to gang up on me. We had some kind of...well, fight," I began.

"You mean you played it dirty," Kir interjected.

"Yeah," I admitted.

Kir shook his head hopelessly.

"During that fight, I used the flashlight on the camera to blind him for a moment. I took a picture of him in the process. When I got home, I wrote some hate phrases on it, you know...and then..." I paused for dramatic effect.

"It actually all came true," I finished.

Kir stopped in his tracks. "You mean?"

"That camera is something. The photos I take...if I write something to happen to the person, it actually will!" I explained.

Kir was lost in thought as he drank his coffee. Finally, he broke the silence. "When did you get it?"

"About two months ago, I think," I replied.

Kir fell back into silence, but he seemed to know something or at least suspect something. He barely asked for any details. He didn't even question me.

Just what are you hiding, Kir?

The conversation continued as Kir made himself comfortable on the couch. "So, have you tried taking more pictures? You know, to test this thing out?" he asked.

I shook my head. "No, I was too freaked out after it happened with Inu. I haven't touched the camera since."

Kir's eyes narrowed. "Yu, you need to be careful with this. If what you're saying is true, that camera could be dangerous. Who knows what kind of trouble it could cause?"

"Tell me something I don't know," I muttered.

Kir sighed, leaning back. "Look, maybe we should figure out where this camera came from. It might give us some clues about how to deal with it."

"Yeah, you're probably right. But where do we even start?" I asked.

Kir thought for a moment. "Maybe check if there are any markings or engravings on it. Anything that could give us a lead."

I nodded, heading to my room to retrieve the camera. When I returned, Kir took it from me, examining it closely. "There's something engraved here," he said, pointing to a small inscription on the bottom. "Looks like a name or a brand. 'Ravenwood.' Ever heard of it?"

I shook my head. "No, never."

Kir pulled out his phone, quickly searching for the name. "Ravenwood...Ravenwood...here we go. Looks like it's some kind of obscure, old camera brand. There's not much information about it online, though."

"Great. So we're back to square one," I sighed.

"Not necessarily," Kir said, scrolling through his phone. "There's a forum here where people discuss rare and vintage cameras. Maybe someone there knows more about it."

"Yeah, maybe," I said, feeling a glimmer of hope.

As we sat there, pondering our next move, a thought struck me. "Kir, what if the camera isn't the only thing out there like this? What if there are other objects with strange powers?"

Kir looked at me, intrigued. "That's a good point. If that's the case, we need to be extra cautious. We don't know what we're dealing with."

The rest of the evening passed in a blur of conversation and speculation. By the time Kir left, my mind was racing with possibilities and questions. One thing was clear: I needed to get to the bottom of this mystery, and Kir was going to help me.

As I lay in bed that night, the camera on my desk seemed to stare back at me, its dark lens reflecting the moonlight. Whatever secrets it held, I was determined to uncover them. And with Kir by my side, I felt like maybe, just maybe, I could handle whatever came next.
