Chapter 2 - Zarue

'There is a next life for you! But you are being too damn stubborn to die!' The voice hotly said as it laughed as well.

The figure laughed softly and looked up, silence once again entering the space.

"Doctor, our child is so quiet. Will everything be okay?" A soft feminine voice is heard.

"Oh I am sure our child is fine, my love. Isn't that right doctor?" Another soft feminine voice chimes in.

'Well now, this isn't like my world already, my parents sound nice and caring. Why aren't my eyes opening, and my body feels weak as it did in the train wreckage.'

"Of course your child is fine! Your child is a newborn after all!" A gruff voice is heard chuckling. "I understand that your child was unexpected, but it looks like all your hopes paid off. Your child looks just like you both. Congratulations."

"What shall we name our child?" The second voice said.

'Need to open my eyes, so that I may see my parents.'

As the three adults in the room speak, the child in the first voices arms starts to open their eyes. A hush comes upon the room as the light in the room enters the child's eyes for the first time. A soft gasp is heard of amazement as the child gives a big soft smile looking at each face with their gaze. Soon people would talk about the beautiful gaze that came from this child, that being intelligent, bright and soft, with dark yet bright twinkling azure eyes.

"Well aren't you just bright eyed," giggled the first voice holding the child. "I think Zarue, is a very befitting name for you." She said softly while gently poking the childs nose.

'Hey! I like that name! That tickles!' reacting to her voice and touch, Zarue smiles and coos. 'A second chance, I can't and won't waste it.'

A few years later, a child roughly 3 years old is seen sitting crossed legged with theirs eyes closed with a few books strewn about in front of them.

"Zarue! What have I told you about coming in here! Oh and you have made a mess as well!"

Zarue jolts at the sound of the voice looking up at his mother. Vetiol, her violet eyes beaming not in anger, but in amusement, her hands on her hips. One would compare Vetiol as one with a slender figure, but still strong. Her best features being her abyssal black hair, in stark contrast to her fair skin and her violet intelligent eyes.

'Aw man i'm trying to read and understand these books that talk about magic, but I just can't! Gah, now mom is made because it looks like I made a mess.'

"Momma! Trying to read! Help please?" Zarue looked up at his mom with pleading eyes.

"Soon, I can tell you have been very interested in learning about magic since your mom decided to take you to the local fair." Vetiol stated, with a chuckle as she picked the books up. "It is time for lunch though, so come on. Let's go eat! Regen, honey! Time for lunch!"

The front door opened as a person walked through, her name being Regen. The breadwinner of the family who would go out into the woods to hunt and chop wood to sell at the market as fuel for others during the winter months. Her strong shoulders predominant in her muscular frame, bright red hair done up in a ponytail as her emerald green eyes looked at her wife and child happily.

"Great timing for me then! I just finished up getting the last bit of burnt wood ready to be taken into town tomorrow to be sold." Regen stated while sitting down at the table to enjoy lunch with her family. "What have you two trouble makers been upto?" She asked with a smile.

Several years later.

A 10 year old child wearing pants and a chest wrap is seen chopping wood, dripping with sweat as the muscles on their body shook with each strike.

'Ugh my hands are sore from all this chopping,' Zarue thought as he looked at the 3 trees he managed to fell and chop, placing them on the sled to bring back home. Wiping the sweat from his face his blackish red hair blowing in the breeze as he pushed it out of his eyes. 'Need to get leather ties for my hair again. I wonder how many trees mom has gotten.' Looking behind him he saw his mom Regen just sitting there, no trees felled, but instead a giant boar on her sled.

"We will be eating well for a few nights Zarue! Good job on felling that many trees! Remember the technique you and your mom went over yesterday?" Regen asked happily.

"The one where I concentrate my ki into my body?" Zarue asked questioningly.

Regen smiled and clapped, "Correct! First, take a fighters stance, wielding an axe almost like a sword. Good good! Now focus on your breathing and feel the ki in your body and around you. Your ki core hasn't formed yet, but you should be able to take the ki around you and use it to help your body in short instant bursts. Take a deep breath to take the ki around you into your body, and as you exhale, swing your axe swide ways at the tree in front of you. Focus on having the ki leave through the force of the swing and not out in your breath, this would be considered Ki Filtering technique. You may not chop the tree down, but you might see a slight increase in your swinging power, with less fatigue physically, you might feel mentally worn down at first though until you get used to the technique."

Nodding affirmatively, Zarue readied the axe in his hands, setting his stance as if wielding a sword, feet shoulder width apart, one foot slight in front, both hands holding the axe firmly at the middle of his body (for those who like to know how to picture a stance properly, this is based off the middle guard, or posta breve). After receiving a nod from his mother Regen. Zarue swings his axe.
