The movement at the corner of his lips was subtle but Qilin San saw it. The rage on his face suddenly vanished replaced by a look of astonishment. This boy who had been under his grasp for years had sneered at him even in the face of death. Qilin Kai was fully aware of the kind of situation he was currently in but despite that knowledge, he actually sneered at him.
Qilin San harshly shoved his head to the ground and with a heavy dull thud Qilin Kai's body hit the ground. "Good.... very good. You have surely grown bold," said Qilin San as he paced back and forth with an absent expression.
Breathing heavily Qilin Kai warily opened his eyes. His vision was blurry with occasional black spots as he lay on the cold ground. Because his brain was messed up he couldn't hear what Qilin San was saying neither did he care.
