"Are you sure your doing this? Why choose that school out of all of them." Ate Lara, my cousin asked while helping me fix my things.
I'm moving to a place, near my new school. After taking a break for a year, I decided to continue my life.
"Yes. I'm sure. It was so sudden and she didn't even tell me. She deserves to be forgotten."
-
"Let's welcome your new classmate. She's from a different state that's why she is three days late for class. Amara Adley Santos, meet your new classmates." I bowed my head in front of all of them to show respect.
The students seem friendly. Well those negative and scary students are really present in all schools so it isn't that surprising seeing them here too.
I was walking to the the empty seat at the back of the classroom when I stepped on a crumpled piece of paper. I looked at the brunette colored hair girl who seemed to be the one who threw the paper.
I picked it up and when I was about to give it back to her she excused herself to go to the bathroom. I looked at her desk and on her notebook was written; READ IT.
"Is there anything wrong miss Santos?"
"Oh, uh. Nothing."
A soon as I reached my seat, I uncrumpled the paper and it said; leave before it's too late.
Heh. Do they not like me that much that they're making me leave the first time they see me? I shrugged. This is my 'moving on' area now. Someone I don't know couldn't just let me leave.
-
Lunch break, I am looking for a seat when a loud laughter echoed across the cafeteria. Suddenly, the girl in front of me slipped.
My eyes widened when I saw the blood splatter, it even reached my skirt!
Wow, I witnessed a murder at my first day of school. So much for moving on.
I looked around looking for the person who pulled the trigger.
Before this girl was shot, there was a weird loud laughter of a woman. It couldn't be a coincidence seeing almost all students looked peaceful before and it seemed so out of place for them to laugh like that.
A lot of possibilities are already running in my head, when I suddenly remembered, I'm moving on aren't I? I shouldn't be like my old self then.
I took one final glance at the girl and against my own thoughts, I walked away from the scene.
Students outside the cafeteria were looking at me weirdly, and that's when I realised that there was blood on my skirt.
-
After changing, I went to the rooftop, hoping to find some peace. As cliche as it sounds, it seems like death is following me around.
I saw a guy, sitting at the bench across the rooftop, his eyes are closed and his hands are clasped in front of him. The sleeves of his uniform has three stripes meaning he is 3rd year now. He looks like he's sleeping.
I went to the other side of the rooftop and also sat at the bench, the wind is strong here. I rested my head on the wall behind me and closed my eyes. Scenes of the girl earlier at the cafeteria and the death of someone I know continuously played in my mind.
I shrugged my head. It isn't helping. I need another distraction.
I was suddenly woken with a loud alarm.
I saw the man reach for his phone with his eyes still closed.
His mumbling started to get louder.
"no human.. its up there....yes... hide"
Then he suddenly opened his eyes. I was stunned when he caught me gawking at him.
He suddenly stood and left the rooftop. I peeked from the edge of the rooftop to see where he would go. He went to the cafeteria.
I shook my head.
Weird guy.
-
I returned just right in time for classes. Nobody talked about what happened at the cafeteria. All of them must be shaken.
A sudden murder of a student, in a public part of the school.
In the middle of the class, I smelled something like some plastics burning.
And then suddenly, everyone panicked when they heard a loud bang!
Some of my classmates immediately went out of the room to check what happened. The teacher also left. There were some students who looked unbothered, like they're used to it. Some were crying.
The brunette haired girl that handed me a note earlier kept on sighing.
"Hi. uhm. Why did you threaten me earlier? Or was it a warning"
She chuckled. "Threaten? heh. I was just warning you. But I guess its too late now. So unfortunate." and then she left.
Our classroom is located at the third floor so almost all students who were curious went to the ground floor, where the body is.
The victim is a male, fourth year, cause of death is a gunshot at the head.
I heard shutters from the other end of the hallway.
The weird man from earlier is there! His eyes are fixated on his camera with a telephoto lense.
"What are you doing?" I said while approaching him.
"if its headshot...dhsdbaasdxzjkh...2nd no third floor...cnhda"
"Hello. Excuse me." he stopped mumbling and looked at me. "What are you doing?"
He went back to what he was doing and kept on adjusting his camera lense.
I could see his shoulders flinch at the sound of my footsteps walking towards him.
"Stop. Stay there."
"Why?"
"I'm trying to focus."
"Am I distracting?"
"Your footsteps are noisy."
"Why are you here? Other students can see you. And they are noisy too."
"It has the best view of the other side of that building."
I looked at the building across ours.
"What's on the other side?"
"The shooter."
