Chereads / Sky Chasers: Scale of Judgment / Chapter 8 - The Earthern Shrine

Chapter 8 - The Earthern Shrine

"Who are you human who trespassed my sacred domain!" A very loud and deep voice condemned.

"Dad! Stop it! He's a friend who needs your help!" Elaine ranted.

"You know the rules, Elaine. You know the rules." The strange voice reminded.

"Yes, Dad! I know!" Elaine responded.

"So he is the one we are looking for? Why keep telling me 'him' or 'he' if he is your Dad? You can just tell me that we are looking for your Dad!" Luis asked in a confused manner because he still can't quite get what's going on.

"We will introduce him to you later, for now, we will tour you around the forest," Elenor stated.

The Earthern Shrine is a big forest covering around a thousand-kilometer radius. The center of the shrine is where you can find the three gigantic trees. The inner circle of the shrine is where countless numbers of trees can be found but compared to the gigantic trees, they can only be as small as grass. The outer circle is where the meadow can be found.

A river runs along from the center to the outer circle of the shrine that maintains the balance of the whole shrine.

A lot of harmless creatures can be seen wandering around the shrine, from birds to deers and even fishes swim along the river.

Everything looks peaceful and quiet. A hidden place that sustains its ecosystem and a breathtaking view that will pull you down the ground to force you to have a rest. This place is magical!

"This place is our home. From this place, we maintain and protect every place that is covered by earth and forests." Elenor explained.

"Now, we will officially introduce ourselves. I am Elena, the guardian fairy of the Tree of Knowledge and Wisdom." Elena introduced herself as she moved towards a gigantic tree that emits a purple glow.

"This is the Tree of Knowledge and Wisdom. This is the source of every thought and idea that a being, that can reason has." Elena explained.

"I am Elenor, the guardian fairy of the Tree of Life and Death." Elenor introduced herself as she flew towards the tree that emits a light green glow.

"This is the Tree of Life and Death. When a being was born, a leaf will grow, and when a being dies, a leaf will wilt. The soul of the dead will come back to this tree to be born again into another being." Elenor explained.

"I am Elaine, the guardian fairy of the Tree of Wish and Desires." Elaine introduced herself as she flew towards the tree that emits a blue glow.

"This tree monitor people's wishes and desires and if a wish has a good intention, a beautiful flower will bloom, and its wish will come true, and if a wish has a bad intention, an ugly flower will bloom and it will bring misfortune to those who wished," Elaine explained.

The three fairies glowed together with the three trees as a brown glow appeared at the center where these three trees meet. A figure suddenly emerged that has the same brown glow as the one that appeared at the center of the three.

"I am Euclepius, the Terra God. I own this sanctuary for the creatures of the earth. My daughters brought you here to... Wait... Why do I sense these two familiar energies on you?" The man who appeared out of nowhere named Euclepius interrupted his introduction to ask about the energies he felt.

"Uh... What energies? I don't know what you're talking about?" Luis answered which intensified his confusion.

"You really don't know?" Euclepius assured. He only shook his head as an answer.

"Well then, would you mind if I ask you to do another energy examination?" Euclepius asked.

"Another? You mean you already knew that I took one before?" Luis asked with a look of confusion on his face.

"Uh... Yes, I actually knew that you were coming and I knew what happened to you, but you entered a restricted area at one point in your journey so I don't know what happened to you inside that." Euclepius scratched his head out of embarrassment.

"A restricted area? That's probably the cave I entered." Luis pondered.

"Anyway, we can start doing the other exam. Elena, bring me a basin of Water of Revelation, Elenor, bring me a moss from the Tree of Life's root, Elaine, bring me a branch of the Truth Bush." Euclepius directed and the three fairies immediately gathered everything he requested.

Euclepius threw the moss at the basin and stirred the water using the branch. The water turned into different colors from white into rainbow then gold and black and then back into white.

"Now put a drop of your blood on the basin." Euclepius directed and Luis immediately bit his finger and put a few drops of his blood into the basin.

"Damn this blood thingy! Don't they know that it hurts every time I need to do that?" Luis ranted to himself.

Euclepius stirred everything and the truth branch slowly dissolved and when it was dissolved, the water suddenly brightened up and a grey goo floated on the surface of the water.

"We wasted some precious for the same result like the one we did? Great! Well people, let's clap our hands for another damn!" Elaine sarcastically exclaimed.

"Elaine!" Euclepius, Elena, and Elenor shouted together.

"What? Why did yo--- oh... I'm sorry Luis! I didn't mean to..." Elaine apologized as she realized what she said.

"No, it's okay... I already accepted the fact that everywhere I go, I'm useless." Luis sadly responded.

"I wouldn't say that if I were you kid." Euclepius comforted as his glowing earth-like brows squinted.

"What's happening Dad? Is there something wrong with the result?" Elenor resulted.

"Nothing's wrong. Well, in fact, everything's great!" Euclepius stated and suddenly burst into loud laughter.

"Why are you laughing? Is everything okay?" Luis asked as confusion suddenly emerged on his face.

"Nothing... You have 'that' energy on you, you might have difficulties discovering it but I saw that you are a brilliant kid so I guess worrying is futile. I just want to ask you to take care of these two stupi- I mean great energies you acquired." Euclepius waved signifying that Luis should not worry.

"Joke is on you, Elaine," Elena stated poker-faced that added the tease on Elaine.

"Hahahaha! The joke hit so hard it hurts right?" Elenor added as she laughed afterward.

"You guys are so mean!" Elaine pouted.

"Now, drink this concoction and feel the flow of the water within you." Euclepius directed.

Luis picked up the water, even though he felt disgusted to look at the floating grey goo with a little sparkle, he still drank a mouthful of it. A few moments later, he felt dizzy and fell to the ground unconscious.

"Dad! What did you do?" Elaine exclaimed.

"I made him sleep so I can do something," Euclepius responded as he closed his eyes and placed his palms on Luis's head.

The man's whole body glowed and glowing brown energy rushed towards Luis. A moment passed and the energy came back to the man.

"Now, I will task you three to bring him out of the shrine now. You need to come back immediately because I will bring the shrine back to the underground." Euclepius instructed.

"You mean, you will sink the shrine again? Why?" Elaine asked.

"The shrine is in danger now because of this kid's emergence. We need to be careful and give this scroll to him when he wakes, I know that this is your purpose for coming here." Euclepius explained and the fairies immediately followed his instructions.

They immediately brought Luis out of the shrine and back into the Gorge of Discord. A few hours passed and Luis finally woke up.

"Where am I? Why is it so dark?" Luis asked in confusion.

"Night Forest: Nocturnal Sight!" Elenor cast.

Luis's surroundings became as clear as day when the spell cast worked.

"Sorry if this is rushed but we can't come with you anymore. We're so sorry." Elenor apologized.

"Why? What's going on? Is there something wrong?" Luis asked.

"Dad told us to go back to the shrine, he said that he will hide the shrine again," Elaine answered.

"So I will go out of this Gorge on my own?" Luis asked.

"Technically, yeah, though we will cast a spell on you that will help you to get out," Elenor answered.

"Oh yeah! Dad gave you this scroll, I don't know what you should do to it." Elaine exclaimed as she handed out the scroll Euclepius gave to them.

Luis opened the scroll to see what is the contents of the scroll.

"Its... Empty? Another empty paper? Are you all kidding me? Oh, wait... The Water of Revelation, silly me!" Luis ranted and suddenly realized his stupidity.

He took a bottle of water that he scooped from the shrine's river earlier and drank a mouthful before saying a chant that made the water glow. He splashed the water and letters surged to the paper as it built a series of words and paragraphs.

"I thought he gave me a map, but he gave me a spell instead, great! How will I get out of the Willowing Woods then? It will take me forever to get out of there." Luis complained again.

"We were sure that he gave you a map? Did he made a mistake?" Elaine contemplated.

"Try to use the spell written on the paper." Elena calmly suggested.

Luis read the letters and symbols on the scroll and when he finished, the paper burned out as a light shone towards his forehead.

"A Transmission Spell. See he didn't make a mistake." Elenor assured.

"Yeah! It's the whole map of the Spring continent and a detailed one at that!" Luis exclaimed.

After exchanging a few farewells, the three fairies cast again the Sylph's Blessing and shot Luis back up to the Willowing Woods. The spell helped to negate his fall from up high in the air. He slowly landed on the ground and started to walk towards the nearest kingdom where Divine Prophecy Academy was established, Riverview City.

He walked outside the forest after fighting a few small beasts and avoiding the strong large one and saw a small town in the distance.

He immediately ran towards the town because of his excitement to finally see a civilization, but before he can enter, he was blocked at the entrance.
