Luis thought hard until he got tired and fell asleep.
As soon as morning came, the liveliness of the Armeton Town slowly came back as more people are getting out of the houses. They are wearing some clothes that they refused to wear, though the texture of the clothes are different from what they are wearing. It felt like they are wearing white uniforms as they strolled around the town as if they didn't have the disease that is plaguing them.
"Where did you get your clothing?" The white-bearded old man asked.
"Oh! The young physician gave us some fiber and asked my wife to weave us some garments. The fibers don't graze our blisters so it didn't pop them." The man replied as he carefully took his tools and started walking towards the field.
"He temporarily alleviated their pain but that doesn't cure them." The bushy-bearded old man snorted.
"Wait, look! You have a blister on your neck!" The white-bearded old man exclaimed as he pointed on the bushy-bearded man's face.
"That's not a funny joke Lirio." The bushy-bearded man frowned at the white-bearded man named Lirio.
"You know that I won't joke with these matters Ikton," Lirio replied to Ikton.
Ikton touched his neck and he felt burning hot as he felt wet from his neck down his shoulder.
"Argh! It's hot! Damn! Stop it!" Ikton howled in pain as he ran towards the river and made a quick dive.
"Wrong move there mister, it will only worsen the pain!" One of the walking men spoke as he brought a basket full of withered crops.
Ikton screamed louder as the water touched his wound.
At the same time, Luis was camping at the falls where he decided to stay until he found the cure. He read every book regarding diseases that he brought, finding the same symptoms that the disease plaguing the Elton River but to no avail, he didn't found any.
"If you were at my place, what would you Grandpa Dave? Grandpa Francis?" Luis thought as he stepped out and made another batch of fibers from the trees to be given to Armeton.
The townspeople waited for half an hour until they saw Luna pulling a cart full of fibers which Luis got from the trees he dissected. After distributing the fibers, Luna swiftly came back to Luis.
"Sorry for the inconvenience, Luna!" Luis apologized as he hugged Luna.
Night came when the houses where Luis went suddenly exclaimed from the news they received.
"This couldn't be! How can we live if we can't use the river's water?" The man exclaimed.
"He already proved it and said that he can't come to us because he got the same disease from the river, but he promised that he will give us the fibers like how we got it from his beast pet earlier." The woman tried to calm her husband.
Meanwhile, inside the dark forest near the falls, Luis was pondering on how to give the town water so that they won't need to fetch water from the river.
"Wait, if I remember correctly, Master Bro was talking to a Marquis way back then? Probably he can help!" Luis exclaimed as he took out his Communication Talisman and called Mufar.
"Master! I need your help!" Luis immediately asked as soon as Mufar picked it up.
"What do you need? I'll go to your headquarters now." Mufar immediately replied as soon as he heard Luis.
"No, we have no time and I'm currently on a mission," Luis informed him.
"Okay, then what do you need?"
"I need Marquis Anthony's communication mark, can you give it to me?"
"Sure, here you go!" And the Communication Talisman on Luis's hands glowed and it showed Marquis Anthony's mark.
"Thanks, Master! I'll hang up now!" Luis bade and turn off his line and immediately traced Marquis Anthony's mark.
"Who is this?" The man on the other line asked with a soothing voice that can calm even the raging bulls.
"Hi, Marquis Anthony, I am Luis, Mufar's apprentice." Luis introduced.
"What does Mufar's apprentice need for me?" Anthony asked.
"Can I ask you a favor?"
"You know that a favor asked from a Marquis comes with a price!"
"I know, but this concerns the pandemic happening in the four towns and soon to be five!"
"Okay, what do you need me to do?"
"Can you tap your power and connection to control those towns?"
"My brother has authority on those towns, I can ask him."
"Yes, please! He should hear all of this!"
"Okay, wait a minute."
A minute passed and another voice rang from Marquis Anthony's side.
"What's the matter, kid?" The voice asked, he has this husky deep voice that felt like he was a big man.
"Sorry, Luis! This is my brother Agron, he has authority over those towns and a city."
"Yes sir Agron, I want to ask you a favor to tap your power and bring down a decree stating that those towns along the Elton River should not use its water. Including Leflend Town and can I ask if you can bring a force that can bring water from Kalyx River to those affected towns by your decree." Luis explained his favor.
"And what would I get in exchange?" Agron asked back.
"I will grant any request that you will ask to me," Luis replied.
"Okay, I know that you are also an Alchemist. I request that, make me a Grade 8 Soul Recovering medicine." Agron stated.
"It will take a while but I will grant it as soon as I got to become a Grade 8 Alchemist," Luis promised.
"Okay, I will take your word for it!" Agron replied as he passed the talisman back to his brother.
"I think that settles it, I will report this to the royal family. When you have news regarding the cure, inform me, okay?" Anthony asked the young man as soon as he got the talisman.
"Okay!" Luis agreed and he dropped the line.
"Now, I can focus on finding a cure!" Luis exclaimed as he opened up the books in front of him.
He's having difficulties moving because of the blisters that emerged from his body when he was infected by the disease plaguing the river.
Two more days passed and the usual routine happened. Luis will give the townspeople fibers in the morning and research for a cure until evening.
"My tent smells like rotten flesh, I think I should take a bath, even if it hurts, I need to." Luis firmed his resolve as he went to the falls and he noticed something. There was steam coming from the backside of the falls.
He approached it and saw that there was a cave behind the falls. He didn't notice it first because he was busy finding some clues for the cure. He entered it and a drop of water from the falls hit his blister and it popped as pus ooze out from it, bringing a burning sensation.
He entered the steaming hot cave as his blisters popped one by one bringing a hot burning sensation that was soothed by the warm water he was in.
While he was carefully washing his body, he noticed that fishes, the size of a finger approached his popped blister as they eat the hanging skin and blow a red bubble towards it which closed a part of the blister.
"Is this what I think it is? I thought they were extinct already?" Luis pondered as he scooped water with a small finger-sized fish on it.
"I think this is it! This is the cure for the disease!" Luis exclaimed as he soaked his body until his neck and let the fishes do their work. The fishes swam around him as the once yellowish steamy water became crystal clear again as the fishes swam away from him after they did what they are supposed to do.
"Crimson Bubble Blister Guppies! Thank Gods you are not extinct yet!" Luis exclaimed as he checked himself and see to it that there's no sign of scar or blister that came after.
The process of his healing took a total of 8 hours and then used his mark to relay his words.
'I ask all of your men to go to the entrance of the forest, I need them to do something for you and me.'
The words were written as every family with Luis's mark received the news.
"He probably found the cure! I will head out now, take care of the children until I came back!" The man of the first family Luis visited directed as he walked out of the house.
One by one, men slowly got out of the house as they headed towards one direction, the forest. They even informed the men of the other houses who refused Luis's visitation and together, all of the men of the Armeton Town are in front of the forest.
A few minutes passed, Luis emerged from the forest as he brought them deep inside the forest where the falls were.
"I discovered that those creatures that should be extinct are still alive and they are the answer to this disease. Follow me and I will show you." Luis spoke and then walked towards the way which he took first when he discovered the steamy pond.
"Get inside that pond and soak yourselves until neck level for 8 hours. Don't disturb the fishes in there and let them do their job. Oh! A simple warning, it will hurt at first but as soon as you soak your whole body, it will slowly lessen the pain. I will inform your families about what will happen." Luis assured them.
"I'm trusting you!" At first, they were doubtful about this but a man stepped out and slowly soaked himself. He was the man who lives at the house Luis visited first.
He howled from the pain of every blister popped that immediately colored the pond a little bit yellow. When he finally soaked himself until his neck, his howls slowly silenced as he closed his eyes.
"Is he dead?" One of the men asked.
"No, I'm not. It's quite refreshing!" The man replied and after that, a swarm of finger-sized fishes emerged from the bottom of the pond as they slowly ate the peeled off the skin of the blisters, and red bubbles continued to emerge from the place around the man.
"Is this the fishes you were talking about?" The man asked.
"Yes, they are!"
