Chereads / Sky Chasers: Scale of Judgment / Chapter 20 - Subclasses

Chapter 20 - Subclasses

A simply normal day has started for Luis. He only did his daily routine and another task was added by Skyrion and that is to strengthen his body with his magic.

Luis was running around the Spirit Herb Fields, with the consent from the farmers of course! While running, Mufar came to fetch him.

After preparing for around 15 minutes, they immediately head outside the residential area towards the portal to Divine Medicine Pavilion.

When they came to the pavilion, Mufar immediately dragged Luis towards a specific room inside the pavilion.

"Remember what the MC said on the Appointing Ceremony about the subclasses?" Mufar asked.

"Yes, bro! There are subclasses in each school and here we have Alchemist and Physician classes." Luis cheerfully answered as they entered the room.

"That's right, what you will do today is to get the subclass that is suited for you, and based on your performance on the Appointing Ceremony, Alchemist is the best for you!" Mufar suggested as he pointed the booth at the left with an image of a vial imprinted on the wall.

"Can I take both?" Luis asked intently.

"Yeah! That's right Alch-... Wait... What did you say?" Mufar confusingly asked.

"I said, can I take both of the subclasses?" Luis repeated.

"You want to be both Alchemist and Physician? That's hard lil bro!" Mufar exclaimed.

"Did you forget that I'm doing both since I was still on Eristreas?" Luis reminded him in an annoyed manner.

"Hey! I may be calling you my lil bro but technically I'm still your master and go ahead! Do what you want! You can take both if you passed the exam anyway." Mufar carelessly said as he sat at the chair for people to wait.

There are no people inside the exam room since the exam for subclasses is already finished and Luis only got this privilege because Mufar requested for him to get the exam late because of the incidents that happened to him.

"Hi there Luis! I'm Amanda and I'm in charge of the Physicians exam. Please step inside so we can proceed." Amanda introduced.

When Luis stepped inside the door, Amanda explained everything to him and the young man listened intently to make sure that he won't miss information.

The exam is to diagnose the symptoms that were posted on the board and tell the disease and which medicine is best to be used in the situation.

Luis walked towards the board and started reading the list of symptoms.

"A traveler was diagnosed with itchy skin until it peels all around the body. Hmm... This sounded like a Peeler Mushnion Spore poisoning. I'll add this as the first, two more!" Luis muttered to himself as he wrote the details on his pocket notebook.

He scanned the board and saw another familiar disease.

"A local blacksmith was diagnosed having different pains all around his body as he moved. Hmm... Sounded like Mana Congestion. I'll add this too, one more!" Luis muttered again as he scanned the board again.

A certain symptom caught Luis's attention as he looked at it. He remembered that he already encountered this disease way back at Eristreas.

"I think this symptom will be my third one!" Luis exclaimed as he listed the symptom in his notebook.

"Are you done, Luis?" Amanda inquired.

"Not yet, can I ask if I can examine those herbs there?" Luis asked the lady.

"Oh! Sure you can! We put those herbs to assist you when you're diagnosing the symptoms. Did I forget to mention it again?" Amanda confirmed.

"Thank you, and yeah! I think you forgot to mention it." Luis thanked as he walked towards the shelves with herbs on them.

He scanned and touched different herbs to see their uses and which diseases can it cure. After listing everything, he headed back to Amanda to submit his diagnosis.

"You diagnosed 2 easy diseases and hard disease," Amanda exclaimed as she received the paper where Luis listed his findings.

Amanda put the paper inside a formation and the orb fixed to it suddenly glowed.

"Place your marked hand on the orb please!" Amanda asked as he looked at the disc.

A yellow-colored cross appeared at the lower right part of the elite mark.

"You got a Level 3 Physician? Amazing! Probably because you solved a difficult type of disease!" Amanda was amazed as he saw the Physician's mark on Luis's backhand.

"Thank you! I should take my leave now." Luis thanked and bid goodbye to the lady.

"How was it, lil bro? Did you passed the Physician's exam?" Mufar asked.

Luis answered by showing his mark towards Mufar.

"You never failed to amaze me!" Mufar exclaimed when he saw the yellow cross mark.

"I should go to the Alchemist examination now so I can finish it all today!" Luis said as he walked towards the right opposite side of the Physician Examination booth.

"Hi, Luis! I am Linda, I am in charge of the Alchemist Examination!" Linda introduced as she briefed Luis on what he should do during the exam and things to remember.

Luis entered the booth as he took out his furnace. The cauldron can retract and expand so it can fit into his pocket and he can use it whenever or wherever he needed to.

"Okay! The exam is to make at least 2 concoctions using these ingredients. Let me check them first." Luis checked the herbs one by one which surprised Linda because Luis was the very first Alchemist who examined the herbs before concocting them.

"This kid is interesting. Will he notice the change we made on the herbs?" Linda thought.

"Uhm... Excuse me! Is the lock on the essence of the herbs intentional? Is this part of the exam?" Luis asked when he discovered something odd in the herbs.

A look of shock and surprise emerged from her face as she just thought about that possibility.

"Uh... Yes! It's part of the exam. You can do whatever you need to do to them." Linda answered after hiding the shocked expression she had.

"Okay, thanks!" Luis answered.

He organized the herbs into specific potions and manage to separate them into 4 groups of herbs. He soaked all of the herbs in the water and boiled them.

The water boiled as the herbs were melted. Luis used his energy to extract the essences of the herbs out and placed them on one part of the cauldron.

He manipulated the fire and burned the herbs to ashes as he collected the essences together and compressed it all to form a massive bulk of essence.

He compressed all of the essences and it became a mass of liquid floating above the fire inside the cauldron.

"Grandpa Dave said that every potion can become a pill if you see the common lining between them." Luis thought to himself as he continued to compress the floating liquid.

He kept on compressing it but it doesn't solidify. They kept on repulsing each other as Luis tried to compress them.

"What is the common lining? What does it look like?" Luis kept on thinking as he kept on compressing the liquid.

"Try to close your eyes young lad and feel the energy of the medicine inside the cauldron," Skyrion whispered inside his head.

Luis closed his eyes as he feels the aura of the medicine he was brewing.

He felt 2 groups of energy clashing against each other. One side has cold energy while the other side has warm energy. He tried to compress them but they just kept on repulsing each other.

"If I can't forcefully combine them, I should find a medium where I can successfully combine them! But what medium should I use?" Luis thought as he kept on observing the liquid.

He kept on pondering for almost half an hour when he discovered something.

The ashes of the herbs had the faint energy of their origin on them.

"What if I put the opposite essence on the ash so they can have the same origin and won't clash?" Luis pondered as he tried to do what he just thought.

He leads the cold energy towards the ashes of the warm herbs and he also did the opposite to the warm energy. The two energies successfully merged towards the origin of the herbs and when he extracted the liquefied energies, they merged successfully as they became a whole mass of liquid.

"This is too much to produce one, I think I could make 3 pills out of it." Luis pondered as he separated the liquefied essence into 3 as they slowly congealed into 3 solid pills.

"Finally! Done with one batch! 3 more!" Luis exclaimed when the pills were formed.

"Here's the vial, you can transfer the medicine here." Linda handed out a regular vial.

"Can I have a crystal case instead?" Luis asked.

"Why? Liquid can't be kept on a crystal case without spilling it! Wait a minute... Did you form a pill?" Linda asked to clarify her suspicion.

"Yes, I formed 3 pills," Luis said.

Linda was dumbfounded as she handed out a crystal case and she still had this shocked expression when she saw the young man putting 3 glowing green pills inside a crystal case.

Luis continued to concoct the remaining herbs into solid pills which resulted in 3 pills each set. He finished concocting everything for around 4 hours.

Linda put the pills above a formation and the orb fixed on it glowed.

"Put your marked hand on the orb to get your Alchemist rank," Linda stated in a monotonous way as she still didn't move on from the shock she had within that 4 hours of the exam.

Luis put his hand on the orb as a green vial image emerged on the lower left side of his mark.

"A Grade 5 Adept Alchemist!"

"What should we do about your apprentice Mufar? He can't protect himself if he has that trauma!" Physician Joe said.

"I also don't know what to do with him. What do you suggest we should do with him?" Mufar responded.

"I suggest that you make him face this trauma on his own."
