Earnestine Blanchard's POV
"I'm sorry miss but we've done everything. He's in a state of coma now. All we can do is wait for him to wake up."
I was depressed by what the doctor said. Rhett was comatose. We were supposed to get married next week, and this shit happen. He was hit by a car.
I saw the whole seen. I was there. I myself am to blame. I just cried crying.
This is all my fault. I felt someone suddenly hug me. It was my mother.
"Sssshhhh. Stop crying Earnestine my baby, it's not your fault. Don't blame your self. Everything is an accident."
"She'll still wake up, won't she? Mom, Rhett will still wake up?"
Dad also approached me. And he hug us both.
"She'll wake up too. Not now, but soon. Don't lose hope baby."
Rhett's parents were also there. Aunt Amelie and Tito Gerar. Extreme anxiety was evident on their faces. Rhett was their only son. So I understand their fear of losing their only child.
The police arrived. Probably because they need an answer to the investigation. Before the accident happened Rhett was gone. He was missing for almost a week.
And when I found out he was in this bad situation yet.
"Ms. Blanchard can we invite you to the precinct?"
I nodded. But Mom tightened her grip on me.
"My daughter is innocent! She's innocent!"
"Mom, it's fine. They'll just ask me. That's all. I am the only witness they need to know the truth."
Mom did nothing when I joined the police. At the precinct, we entered a room they called an interrogation room. There is a large mirror on its side. And as I see in movies there are probably cops watching us on the other side of your mirror.
In addition to the CCTV attached to the ceiling of that room.
"Sit here Ms. Blanchard."
I sat in the other chair in front of a table and this policeman was sitting on the other end in front of me.
"Before we begin, do you promise that you will only answer the truth in my questions to you?"
"Yes."
"There is no mixed lie or any addition or lack of detail in what you are witnessing? Will you tell me the whole and true story?"
"Yes."
"Then let's get started."
He pressed a button on the object he was holding which was probably a voice recording device. I know this is the beginning, though nervous but I have to tell the truth.
