Chapter 119 - Deviled Eggs

"Everybody ready?"

"I was born ready."

"Actually, I hate to say this but you were born an Apple."

"Come on. We're going to be late."

"Late for what? Late to check-in?"

"No. Late to check-out."

"HUh?"

"I'll explain on the way.

Every morning, me and my family go around to each restaurant, and Inn, asking for any leftovers. Why? With lunch and dinner, you can physically see and map out how much you should premake, but with Breakfast, you don't know. So, you make a lot. Then throughout the day you are stuck using the same stuff you made at the beginning of the day. People want fresh, not hours old. So, instead of them throwing everything away, we ask for them and take them around setting baskets on each person's doorstep. So, when they wake up and open their door ready for the day, 'Boom' someones been thinking about them. My family knows if we do that then each household is sure to eat everything within the first few hours or hour even. An extra punch for their day. That way, they get their fill, restaurants and Inns stay fresh, and everyones happy.

"What about the end of the day?"

"Same thing, but it's more snacks and candy. Might have a late night rush so we are careful not to take as much food even if it's over."

"Do you ever think that maybe first shifters have been making more on purpose now that your family is doing this?"

"Hey, don't ruin the magic, but yes. After my family started; businessed caught on and would start making extra on purpose; whether it be they got a big shipment, or an excess of a few ingredients. My family may be seen as the heroes, but we're just the Messengers."

"And nobody caught on that their neighbor might have made them their morning bread and not you?"

"Why are you ruining the magic?"

"I'm just saying, if you're already planning on making food for another, just take it over to their house. No need for a middle man, or family. That creates too much work."

"Darius, it's not about the work. It's about the experience of seeing kids, parents, and grandparents' happy faces when they see their baskets. There is no way each business could make, distribute, and hand out. It wouldn't be enough. That is why they just make as much of what they can make, and we are the ones that combine them all into one yummy tasting 'meal basket'."

"But."

"Darius, shh!! You're the Grinch that ruins everything, you know that?"

"I'm just being rational. Santa doesn't rule Christmas. There is no giant Easter bunny laying her egss. There are no Elfs having races on Rainbows, and the Devil does not have his own business of making eggs."

"We're here. Can you please keep your rational ideas to yourself. We need to hurry before people start their days. I reckon most are still sleeping, or taking showers. My family is not here to help or else we'd be done quicker, one at each business, but for now; you all are new, so we'll just start at the INN."
