Reiji found himself floating. Everywhere he looked was a bluish rippling hue almost like being underwater. Confusion spread across his mind.
Where am I? I must be in heaven.
Reiji chuckled at the thought. His eyes settled on a woman in front of him and he jumped in surprise. He was sure she hadn't been there a few seconds ago. A white dress flowed down all around her. Her hair was shining gold and her deep blue eyes pierced through his soul. She looked to be in her forties displaying perfection of beauty.
"A-Am I dead?" he stuttered, barely a whisper.
"No my dear," her entrancing voice replied. "You are on my plane of being."
"I'm not sure I understand," Reiji said, slightly annoyed. "I thought I died."
The prospect of going to heaven seemed enticing.
"You aren't dead. You are seconds from plowing into the ground at almost a hundred miles an hour though. But don't worry, time is not flowing now."
Reiji's heart skipped a beat. He was not dead, but he was about to be.
"Who are you?" he questioned, desperate to know more.
"Reiji, relax. You are safe for now. I will explain if you come with me."
He didn't know how she knew his name, but something told him that he didn't need to worry about that.
"How am I supposed to relax when I am literally milliseconds from my death?"
"Just come here, stop being a nuisance." she snapped. She clearly wasn't having any of it.
She turned to walk away and Reiji jogged to catch up to her.
"Tell me, how would you feel being locked up forever?" she asked with a hint of anger in her voice.
"Uhh…"
"Terrible right? Well you asked about who I am, and I will tell you. I am Aroa, the goddess of time."
