Yoi's POV
"D-dad?"
I couldn't believe it when I saw Dad when I woke up. I even looked around and I was in my own bedroom. How did I get here? Did Daddy pick me up? I can't help but cry.
"Stay away from him."
Dad said seriously. I stared at him in surprise.
"Who are you talking about, Dad?"
"Dric."
He answered sparingly.
"Dric La Mort."
He added then glared at me before turning away. Don't tell me...
"Dric was the one who brought you here."
I nodded, so it's not him. So why tell me to stay away from someone who helped me then?
"You don't know him."
He said and then came out of my room. I sighed. Am I even his daughter? Does he see me as his own daughter? What am I to him? Who am I?
THE NEXT MORNING...
Surprisingly, I continued to the school gym. The announcer said that there is something important to say about the owner of this school. I had no choice but to bend down and hurry to walk inside the gym, because all the students I passed were looking at me and they were still whispering with ill-words towards me. It would have been better if I hadn't heard them but I could hear anything. Shit. I'm starting to cry again.
*BOOOOOSGH*
Damn! something I collided with. I close my eyes in fear. Damn, damn, I drew everyone's attention and they were suddenly silent. Who did I bump into? I was still sitting on the floor and my eyes were still closed.
"S-sorry,"
I said almost in a whisper without still looking at the person.
"Up."
L-man? D-I slowly opened my eyes and that's how shocked I was when I realized it was Dric. He looks at me dangerously that it gives me goosebumps. No emotion could be read in his eyes. I was scared on purpose, I blinked a few more times and tried to look away from the others.
"You are really hopeless."
He added once more holding my right hand and he pulled me upright. Without a word, he pulled me inside the gym. I remained stooped and unable to stare at the blazing gaze and glares of those we passed. They are killing me through their eyes but for some weird reason, I feel safe. He's so warm. When he found three vacant seats we sat down. I still can't look at him. I have nothing to say either. I just leaned over and felt around.
"T-thank y-you."
I said unconsciously but I didn't get an answer from him. So I looked up but he didn't look at me but at the phone in his right hand. I sighed in relief. I adjusted my seat and focused my attention on the stage.
"Say it again"
I turned around as he spoke.
"T-thank you"
I stuttered again and then looked back at the stage. Damn, he's so near and sexy.
"Ah."
That was his only response and suddenly a loud scream from the ladies bomb inside when Kein came out from the backstage looking handsomely? Is he the emcee now?
"He's the school owner."
Dric's words made me audibly gasp. How did it happen?
"He bought this school yesterday for one reason."
I gulped. Why am I suddenly get nervous? He bought an Elite School yesterday? What the heck?
"Damn! he's so hot and handsome."
"Who's he?"
"Is he a transferee?"
"Damn, I wanna marry him"
I could hear everyone whispering and pleasant chatterings. They're all looking at him with hungry eyes and it seems like he's enjoying it.
"Lads and Gents, I'm Kein la Vie, the new school owner."
"What the fuck for real?!"
"Where's the owner?"
"Is he the son of Mr. Mrs. Garrison?"
"Whoah! he is damn perfect."
"Alive prince there you go."
"I bought this school."
Kein added that made everyone's whispers grew even louder. When I looked at Dric, he was just on his earphones and closed his eyes but why wrinkling his forehead then? But damn it makes him more hotter.
"I have some concerns about this school. Lately, I've been hearing this so-called serial killing blah blah."
I looked at Kein when he said that. He's making fun of me, no? Or he's making it worse? Damn.
"And it really pained me big time."
What does he mean?
"Just because of this single footage y'all are accusing her of being the killer or whatever you call it. So as for this, I want y'all to behave yourselves or you'll be punished by death,"
Everyone was silent. I can't believe what I'm hearing. Why is he doing this? I looked around and even though they weren't saying anything I knew they were mad at me. This is not good.
"You can leave this school if you're against with it. But your parents already know that by leaving this school means losing all their properties. Are we clear?"
Deafly silence filled the four corners of the gym. You can't hear any violent reaction but fear. Damn why?
"So, that's all."
Kein ends the short speech and everyone quietly exits the gym. They don't look disappointed but they feared him. And so am I.
I was about to leave the gym when I realized Dric was no longer beside me. Where is he?
I just sighed. Maybe he went to see Kein but I also want to go to Kein and ask him why is he doing this for me? What are his motives? Is this what Dric said was his reason why he bought this school but why? I have a lot of questions.
"Yoi!"
I turned around to see who is calling my name. It's Hebi! The extent of her smile reaching from her ears as she approached me. And I also couldn't help but smile at her. The two of us hugged.
"Isn't it wonderful?"
Her introduction.
"What do you mean?"
I wondered.
"You are free from their wrath now! And you'll never hear their accusations every day."
She seems happy when she said it but her smile didn't reach in her eyes. She seems disappointed and defeated. Why am I thinking those weird things about my best friend? Am I stupid?
"What are you thinking?"
Hebi asked me if I couldn't speak. I sighed and smiled at her genuinely.
"Thank you for being there for me when I needed someone the most. You are really my best friend. And I'm not regretting meeting and having you in my life. Please don't change"
I sincerely said and hugged her tight. I won't lose a friend like her. She's my treasure.
