Chapter 20 - Blacksmith

Their journey in the luxurious stone road was uneventful, contrary to the things that happened last night. Trees and boulders littered the side of the road that blocked most of the scenery that was in their surroundings.

A little more ways down the road, the trees and boulders became more and more sparse. Bang could even see recently cut down trees and boulders that were crushed into powder. That was not the most astonishing thing in the trip, it was the big outline of Suno town. It was definitely bigger than the town he was in before.

Contrary to the four towers that were in the previous town, Suno town only had one big spire towering all over the town. There was only one, but it was definitely bigger and taller than the towers in the previous town.

It was called a town, but it definitely looked like a medieval castle. Only bigger. The wall protected the houses and establishments form the outside. Then, there was another wall that protected the main castle from the housing area. The weird thing was that Bang could see farms on the housing area, not the outside.

They had an isometric view of the whole town because they were currently in a higher elevation. Going down the hill, they now only saw the wall that protected the town.

A huge gate was open for all the caravans to go through. They were not the only caravan to go through the gate. There was one caravan who was at the gate when they got there. They had the same setup, the guards, the carts and horses, and the goods.

When it was their turn to be inspected, one of the guards saw Sak get out of the cart and nodded to him. The guard saluted and went to Sak. They discussed some stuff that Bang couldn't hear but Bang heard the guard shout.

"It's okay here. No need to inspect this caravan."

The guard then saluted once again and disappeared into the town. Once they passed through the gate, Bang could see a bustling town full of people walking through the streets.

Ahead of them were stalls that were selling an assortment of goods and materials. They sold jerky, salves, bandages, and other things that Bang thought would be useful in a journey out in the wilderness.

Out of the stalls, brick houses now littered the sides. Actually, it can't be called houses as this all looked like for commercial purposes. There were restaurants, shops, and there was even a laundry shop in there but they only used their hands.

This looked more like a city more than a town. Bang was sure that if he had walked around some more, he would have seen more of the town.

Walking some more, Bang saw a big plaza where a ton of people were just walking and talking around. Surrounding the plaza were big concrete buildings that had giant emblems on the top.

The emblem of the front building which was the biggest and tallest of them all was a wheat grain. There was another building which had an emblem of a sword and shield. Another emblem was a gold silhouette of a man.

These were not the only buildings with emblems on it. Multiple buildings had emblems on it but these ones were the most eye catching and biggest buildings.

They stopped when they got near the plaza and Bang heard Sak speak.

"So this is where we part. We'll be escorting the caravan in the Lockbay merchant group for them to work out the logistics."

"Okay, thanks for the ride."

Sak didn't answer but only gave a head nod. He then led the horses and the carts into the building where the emblem had a golden man on it. Bang guessed that it was the Lockbay group's building.

Observing his surroundings, Bang didn't know where to go. It was almost sunset and he was gonna ask Sak for directions but he already left. Left with no choice, Bang decided to ask the system.

He suddenly remembered, he had no money. Even if he knew where to lodge, he wouldn't be able to afford it. He had nowhere to go.

'Well, it is still not nighttime yet. I still have some energy so I should look for that blacksmith.'

•Self defense

*Travel to the Suno town and talk to the blacksmith.

•Fighter crew member

*Listen to gossip in the Suno town.

+++++++++++++++

Bang decided to buy the information since he didn't have a lot of time just wandering around the city. Ligi just walked one step behind Bang all the time. They still didn't talk but Ligi still followed Bang in every step.

'Blacksmith's location : 10wp'

Bang got a direction in his mini map. He followed it going through the streets that before was littered with stores and restaurants but now had turned into more of a production state. Bang could see people sewing clothes, he saw people carving stone, and there was one building where the chimney was smoking. That wasn't the blacksmith since the map pointed in another direction.

Finally after walking some time, Bang and Ligi got to the blacksmith. The forge was lighting up the whole place and an anvil was sitting at the front of the blacksmith. Different tools and equipments littered the sides. There was currently no one there.

"Hello? Blacksmith?"

Bang spoke in a loud voice hoping for the blacksmith to hear it. There were rumblings and sounds of pots hitting pans until a man came out of the door.

Contrary to Bang's expectation, the blacksmith wasn't a big man with big muscle, or a short but stout man. Instead, the man was very skinny. He still had muscles out of his sleeveless shirt that were defined but it didn't have enough volume. He wasn't tall nor short, like Bang's height. His face had kind of an upside down eggplant shape.

"Hey, can I help you?"

The blacksmith called out to Bang, but Bang didn't respond as he was still processing the appearance of this blacksmith.

"Hellooo?? You there?"

The blacksmith waved his hands in an attempt to get Bang's attention, which it did.

"Oh...yeah.."

Bang got a command from the system.

"I would like something to protect myself."

"Hmmm....."

The blacksmith put his hands on his weird chin and wondered.

"What would you like? A shield, armor?"

"No, something that could attack."

"Hmmm....a sword? Something with a blade?"

"No, I don't know how to handle those things."

Even without the system telling him, he truly wouldn't know how to use anything like a sword. If the system wasn't going to teach him skills, he couldn't learn how to use a sword.

"Long range then. How about a bow?"

Bang still had the same answer.

"No, something more user friendly."

"A crossbow?"

A crossbow was nice. Bang could use that even without any prior experience on it. He only had to know how to reload and all he had to do was aim it. It was also cool since a crossbow is one of the hallmarks of an adventurer in the novels back on Earth. He would have chosen this but the system disagreed.

"No, too big and heavy."

"Ah... a gun then."

"Yeah. Please make one for me."

The blacksmith and Bang finally agreed. Bang didn't even know that guns existed in this world. Come to think about it, does electricity exist here? Or has it not yet been discovered?

Bang looked around the place since it was now sundown and the sky is starting to get dark. Surprisingly, there was a light in the other places, but the source wasn't a light bulb or anything like that. It was an actual blob of light. It must have been magic because science cannot do that.

The blacksmith was just thinking to himself and rubbing his chin when Bang started sightseeing.

"Well, do you have anything you want any provision to add in the gun?"

The blacksmith's question took Bang out of his stupor.

"Provision? Like what?"

That wasn't the system but Bang's own curiosity. The only gun attachments he saw back on Earth were silencers and sights but with magic now involved, who knows what it could do.

"Well, it could accommodate your own magic, whatever that is."

Well that was disappointing, Bang currently did not have any magic in him.

"How about just a normal gun."

"Okay sure.. whatever you want."

The blacksmith then turned around and started to pick up his tools to work on the gun. He suddenly smacked his head and turned to face Bang again.

"Ah..I forgot. What's your name?"

"Bang. This is Ligi."

"Hey Bang, I'm Andy. That gun would take 15,000g"

Bang didn't know how much that was but he guessed that was expensive. Ligi's jaw on the ground only helped the narrative.

'Hey system, what are we gonna do? I can't pay for that, I don't have any money!'

The system gave him instructions right after thought that. Bang turned to Andy and spoke.

"Instead of gold, I could help you with your problems."
