Chapter 2 - Calamity

Darkness. Complete darkness engulfed my vision. Trying to move around I noticed that I was in a confined are that had me curled up into a ball. Trying to think about what could be happening, I tried to search through my memory, but I had none. I knew about a lot of things, but anything about myself was completely wiped. Almost as if I did not exist before now. After trying to move to no avail, I just stopped moving and went to sleep.

After an indeterminate amount of time, I heard a little ding noise. This noise appeared directly in my mind and was the first sound I had ever heard. Instinctively I rolled around in my confinement as this noise had just scared the living shit out of me. Trying to locate the sound of this noise I concentrated deeper into my subconscious until what appeared to be a panel with words appeared in front of me. Don't ask me how I can read, because even I don't know!

[Name: ???]

[Race: World Devouring Centipede]

[Cultivation: None]

[Strength: 0.1]

[Vitality: 0.1]

[Dexterity: 0.1]

[Intelligence: 1]

[Description: The calamity born on planet E-305 (Earth). A newly created centipede race that cultivates solely on devouring the life essence of others. This race is highly poisonous and uses its poison as its main weapon. State: Unborn.]

So…. What!?

Looking at a small little hologram of my physical body was the first time I got to look at myself. I was a centipede that had 2 incisors that curved around and extended right in front of me. I could almost see the unlucky prey that would walk in front of that mouth. The rest of my body was covered in a chitin armor, except for my underside which was noted. What was most magnificent about me was that right above my little beaty black eyes, in the middle of what would be a forehead, was a horn that struck towards the heavens.

Looking at my body, I wasn't disgusted, on the contrary I was excited. Deep within my memories, I was able to tell what I had to do. I had to destroy this planet and turn it into my strength. In my description it seemed that the World Devouring Centipede was made specifically for this task seeing as it could increase it strength while doing so.

My mind was excited for a while until mental fatigue creeped in and I succumbed to the darkness again.

After another indeterminate amount of time I woke up feeling stronger and bigger. Straining to move I noticed that I was completely filling up what I can only assume to be an egg at this point. Looking at my stats clearly showed my growth.

[Name: ???]

[Race: World Devouring Centipede]

[Cultivation: None]

[Strength: 0.3]

[Vitality: 0.3]

[Dexterity: 0.3]

[Intelligence: 1]

[Description: The calamity born on planet E-305 (Earth). A newly created centipede race that cultivates solely on devouring the life essence of others. This race is highly poisonous and uses its poison as its main weapon. State: Infant.]

Seeing as almost all my stats had increased by .2, I had basically tripled my stats. That is of course with exception to intelligence, as what had been maturing was my body and not my mind. Also, my stage change from unborn to infant which marked my ability to leave my prison, as what I liked to call it.

Gathering my strength form my many legs, I pushed as hard as possible and tried to extend myself outwards. With a pop the prison of a shell exploded outwards and I showed my appearance to the world for my first time. With slime still stuck all over my body I looked around at the unfamiliar world around me.

As I am only 10 cm long and am really close to the ground, everything appears massive in my vision. Assaulting my senses with all the knew smells, and sights befuddled my mind for a little bit, but after a moment I was back to normal again.

Thinking back to my mission, I had to first survive and then gain strength. Looking around at the surrounding trees, I quickly figured out that I was in a very dense rainforest. I was able to tell it was a rainforest based on the humidity in the air, it was very cool to the touch.

Crawling around for a little bit, I noticed what appeared to be an overturned tree with parts of its roots above ground and the rest still deep in the ground. Locating a territory for myself and finding food was a top priority right now. I had just broken out of my egg and was thrust into the big world. I had no one to protect me, so I knew I had to choose an ideal location so that I could quickly escape and disappear in case I need to run away from something. These tree roots provided exactly what I was looking for and with excitement in my steps, I quickly ran over to my future home to be.
