"You have been found guilty of treason, for that you will pay with your lives. We will not harm your child, but you will pay the price."
And just like that, they were gone. My entire world was destroyed, and I didn't even try to stop it. My parents died in front of me, and I was too much of a coward to do anything about it. "I swear, i'll avenge you. Until the day I die I swear to destroy all who have wronged you! I will kill and destroy all of --"
Leon woke to a loud bang from the apartment next door and frantically looked for its cause. He noticed a thin smoke rising from underneath his front door. He assumed his neighbor, Ms. Genshi, had performed another crazy experiment and failed. Leon trew on a change of clothes and prepared to head out. In the hall of the apartment complex, he was confronted by his neighbor. "Greetings little man, off to work for the old man?" Leon nodded "I get the feeling today is going to be a busy day." Ms. Genshi smiled "I gotta get back to the lab, but if you need anything, don't hesitate to call me 'kay? Just think of me as your reliable "onee-san". Leon nodded once more "I'll keep that in mind." and ran out the front doors of the complex.
Once he arrived at his destination, he looked at the restaurant once more. The building was old and had a sort of refined look to it. Leon unlocked the door and proceeded to clean the windows. A figure approached him and he heard a voice call to him.
Hey there Nico-boy! Mighty fine day today, wouldn't you agree?"
Good morning Mr. Amuro, I'm sure the weather will be nice today indeed!"
Mr. Amuro was a frail old man who owned the restaurant. He knew Leon under his false identity "Nico Shimada" and had employed him around a year ago. Leon cherished every moment he had with him in his restaurant and wouldn't trade it for the world. He put on a cheery persona for anyone in his social life, but felt incomplete when he did. Almost like a hollow shell.
"Before we open up shop,i'll have to go to the store, we ran out of flour and olive oil yesterday"
Leon gestured a thumbs up "Not to worry sir, after closing yesterday I stopped by the supermarket and picked those up already, we were running low on tomatoes, noodles, and coffee beans so I re-stocked on those as well."
"I appreciate the thought lad, but a youngster like you shouldn't be out so late, there have been a few murder reports around here lately."
"Don't worry Mr. Amuro. I'm sure I'm strong enough to take on any opponent"
He laughed "Sure kiddo, i know you're mighty tough, i won't lecture you too much"
With that, they started the day, it went smoothly and swiftly and eventually it turned to closing time.
"You're doing a great job living on your own kiddo, especially at such a young age. You've got a stable income and a place to call home, I honestly wish more youngsters were as responsible as you." the old man smirked and continued "All you need now is a nice lady and you'll be set"
"Sorry, but we both know I'm not interested in that, i doubt it'll ever happen anyway"
"You say that now, but wait until you grow up, then you'll be thinkin' 'why oh why didn't i hit on that fine lookin' lady' and then you'll end up a grumpy old man like the one you see before you."
They both had a good laugh and eventually parted ways.
"Anyway Mr. Amuro, I've got to get going, I promised someone I would meet them tonight." Mr. Amuro giggled "Is it your girlfriend? honestly Nico you're such a flirt with the ladies" Leon laughed and gave a shrug. "What can i say, I'm a natural." he jokingly replied. He waved goodbye to the old man and ran off.
After work, Leon took the subway to the location where he was going to meet the client for his other job. One that wasn't known to anybody else. And he was suddenly filled with a sense of dread.
