Daniel Brooke placed his hand around her shoulder, offering a wide smile to Carl Black, and said "I was asking her to go for dinner with me." He then looked down at her and asked "Am I right, sweetheart?"
Lisa didn't hear anything that Daniel Brooke asked. Her only concentration was on Carl Black, who was also looking at her indifferently. Without changing the slightest bit of expression Carl Black asked Lisa "Are you coming?"
Lisa came to her senses and brushed off Daniel Brooke's hand from her shoulder. She was about to go to Carl Black, but Daniel Brooke held her wrist and said "Sweetheart, you promised to go with me. Have you changed your mind?"
Shocked, Lisa looked back to look at Daniel Brooke with wide eyes and mouth agape. He lied deliberately. He already created a misunderstanding between them and now his words were only increasing the doubt of Carl Black's mind.
