Chapter 3 - Grandma's Home Cooked Meal

We drove home in my grandma's mini van, it was a nice and warm summer day, but it was also quite windy, especially while driving past the beach. When we got to the beach house, we grabbed our suitcases and entered the house. The smell of grandma's house was like a tropical paradise with mango's, coconuts, and all different tropical fruits. Grandma showed us to our rooms, I always slept in the room at the end of the hall, it had the best view of the ocean.

"Okay dears, I will let you both unpack and settle in, I will go cook some dinner for us."

"Okay!", Mason said while playing with his toy robot.

"Okay Grandma!", I said while unpacking all of my things.

I loved grandmas house, it was the perfect setting, Hawaii was one of my favorite places in the world!

"I wonder what we're having for dinner tonight." I said to myself while enjoying the aroma from whatever grandma was cooking.

I decided to figure out what we were going to eat by just smelling the air. I sniffed the air while thinking about the different Hawaiian foods there were. There are many different types of Hawaiian food.

"Wait a minute, *sniffs* is that... huli-huli chicken I smell?", I said while trying to make sure my assumption was right.

"Hold up, there is more... I think I smell lye water..wait if I smell lye water.. and pork, then it must be noodles, but what kind of noodles..?, I thought deeply. I got it, it is Lomi! We're having Huli huli chicken and Pork Lomi!", I said in excitement.

Huli huli chicken was my favorite Hawaiian dish, the sweet huli huli glaze spread over the juicy grilled chicken is such a satisfying and mouthwatering taste. Mason loves Lomi, he would eat it everyday if he could.

"Come down and eat kids, I made your favorite!", she called to us from the kitchen.

"We're Coming!", I exclaimed while heading downstairs with Mason behind me.

While sitting at the dinner table, we all held hands and said a prayer. After the prayer we all began to feast on the food. It was so tasty that it made my eyes water. It was totally the best dinner ever.
