Chapter 8 - Art?

Art class as it turned out, wasn't too bad. The teacher was an old fart who sat in his swivel chair behind his desk sleeping the entire time. He said something about art needing to be self inspired before promptly falling asleep.

There weren't many students in the classroom, only six students total including me. Everyone picked out an easel and settled down to begin. I had no idea where to start. I didn't know too much about human culture and what kind of art styles they liked, but one thing that did stick with me was their anime and manga.

I picked up the brush settled before me and began to paint.

"Woah Reiji, that's so cool!" exclaimed a boy to my right.

If I remembered correctly his name was Brandon.

"Nah, it's not that good, I wasn't really trying."

Its true, I wasn't really trying at all. I just drew a manga adaptation of my cousin, Mei.

"Not trying?! This is good enough for the inter-scholae art competition!"

"No, no, please. I'm not trying to get into that," I pleaded before the situation got worse.

"Ahh, you sure man? This is awesome. You should become a manga artist!"

"Yeah, I'm good. When does class end?"

He sighed, "Three minutes."

I promptly turned away and continued my art.

The bell rang a few minutes later and I got up and walked out the door to find the cafeteria. It turned out to be packed with students, so after I picked up the horrid poison they called food, I made my way to the rooftop.

I expected it to be full with people, but surprisingly nobody was there. It was about an acre of space surrounded by tall black wire fences. I settled down against the fence and began to eat my lunch.

"Phleeeaacck," I almost barfed. "They call this food?"

I decided to abandon the mac and cheese and instead take a flying break. Yes a flying break.

I called upon my godly powers to control the airspace around me. I started floating upwards into the sky, high above the buildings. Now that I examine it, the city is quite large. Skyscrapers tower everywhere and you can see buildings for miles around. The residential area surrounded the school as small houses pocketing the community.

This reminds me, I need to find a place to stay. Maybe I could ask the principal, Kohara, if I could stay at her place.
