Chapter 10 - Mouse Tailing On the Cat

Day 2 of tracking Naomi and Harry's mission.

Gosh... I sighed to a long exhale of boringness.

Why on earth does Samuel have to put me on them? They are merely future scholars, only studies excited them.

I am aware that I have developed a new habit of biting my nail recently. Gross, this is a bad omen, what is next? Even Naomi still refuses to talk to me, she rather spends her time alone.

I pity myself, oh...

Closing my notebook in frustration having the whole class turning to me. A moment of silence, then they return to their desk, leaving me in an awkward situation.

Samuel makes a hand signal asking what wrong with me, but I just waved my hands acknowledging him that it is nothing to worry about.

Looking at the wall clocks showing five more minutes to 4:30 p.m, our free time for club activity will start soon. Naomi was in art while Harry in Chess, which means two long distances to be followed.

I decided to follow Naomi, who knew I might resolve the problem that keeping her isolating herself from me. Since she had gone to the washroom I lean onto the wall drifting into my empty mind.

The vibration of my cellphone pulled me back to reality. Swiping across the screen, I lazily accepted the call, "Yes, Sam."

"No teacher today, don't bother to return to class."

"Oh, that's great. Seriously I don't understand why am I stalking Naomi in the washroom, do you have anything more adventurous than this?" I grumbled, half-whispered.

Samuel chuckled from the other side. Hah, how dare he laughed at me.

"See you around there, let's get home earlier today," he suggested.

"Alright, whatever. See you later." I said ending the call right away.

I peeked out, yet didn't see a trace of Naomi. Have I lost her? Striding to the washroom to check on her only to be welcomed by Sunni and her two comrades conquering Naomi's way out.

They are the school bullies which I despise. Damn, had they had too much of their lunch that they decide to confront Naomi? They know Naomi is someone out of their league, they are purposely wanted to get Naomi into trouble by the demerit system.

"We are asking you nicely to help us with the assignment Naomi."

There is no trace of fear on Naomi's face. She is strong, I'm utmost admired by her attitude.

"I said no, Sunni. Move away while I'm being nice."

"Well, what are you going to do? Slap me? Come on then." Sunni irritated Naomi by offering her cheek to receive the slap.

"Move away," Naomi warned.

I hide away as Naomi coming to my way.

"Low-class bitch." Sunni hummed as they let Naomi passed.

The word "bitch" sends ripples of anger to Naomi's nerves. She turned back and slap Sunni instantly. "Say it again. I will make sure your fake nose drops to your feet."

Seeing the upcoming fight, I forward myself as I saw Sunni using the book in her hand to hit Naomi.

Oh no, she is going to trigger Naomi's temper and might get themselves beaten half dead.

"Stop!"

Still, the tips of the notebook managed to scratch on the skin of my jaw. I pressed on it as fresh blood gushed out from the parallel line of cuts.

"Lana..." Naomi gasped.

"It's alright Naomi, let's go shall we," I said begging her to leave them.

Still, Sunni forwards to grab the collar of Naomi, hissed in her monotones, "I knew the dead pervert Mr. Bong is your maternal uncle. Bitch..."

The deceased name grabs my attention. Looking at the drained color from Na Bi features had me flutter. "Naomi's uncle? " My mind speaks about my thoughts and before I could even advance to my curiosity...

"Girls,"

A seductive husky voice diverted our attention.

Every one of us turned to see our school flower boys gazing at us.

Sunni let go of Naomi in an instant.

"Sunni, what's wrong here?" Jason Bak continued.

There goes Jason Bak flirtatious ascent again.

"It's nothing. Really," Sunni replied in her sly tones.

"Sunni," said Jason tilted her chin, mesmerizing her with his charms. "Our Naomi here is Nelson's girl, I will be unhappy to be harsh to a beautiful girl like you, Sunni."

"Nelson's girl? What? No..." Naomi had wanted to deny.

I quickly clasped her mouth closed with my other free hand. "She is shy," I quickly come out with a reason.

"Well, it's just a little argument. Nothing else." Sunni insisted.

"You are interesting," Said Jason, nonchalantly taking her hand and jolt something on her wrist. "Call me, we should hang out sometime."

"You are... You mean it?" She stuttered, her finger starts playing with her shiny straight hair and the tone of her voice changed to a soft fragile girl too!

"Yes, I mean it. You should only remember me for today right?"

"Of course. Sure... I will call you." Said Sunni before leaving the scene with her allies.

I guess those sweet tacky phrases are sending Sunni to heaven now. "Earth to Jason Bak! This is not a social gathering place for god sake." I rolled my eyes as my inner voice yelled at him.

"Are you crazy? Why are you taking the blow for me?" Said Naomi irritated while handing a pocket-size tissue pack to me.

"I worry you might beat them half dead. We are in our last senior year, you might get in trouble... I'm afraid..."

"Am I a kid then? Geez..."

"Let me see," Samuel interrupted.

"Just a small cut. It's nothing, "I lied when all I feel is the radiating pain from the little cut.

"Come, we should get to the art club now," Nelson acted by dragging Naomi away from the awkward situation before she got a chance pushing him away again.

My lips formed a smile as I watched them. Nelson really likes Naomi so much that he enrolls himself in the art club just to get along with her.

Oh, this is such a romantic love story.

"Ouch!" I flickered at the sudden pain Samuel put me on.

"Stay still." He ordered.

"You will get a scar across your face, Lana," Added Jerry, inspecting the cut from Samuel's side.

"It will heal don't worry," I assured him.

"Let's go, Jerry, Sam will take care of it," Jason suggested. With both hands stuffed into his pants pocket, he takes a short glance at me.

Jerry puts his hand over Jason's shoulder and together they left.

Jason is the kind of guy who magically radiated charms to girls everywhere he goes, but to me, he is just being flirtatious.

It's obvious, why do girls still bewitch by him, whoah!

"Stay still will you."

I turned to Samuel and my heart skips a beat, our gaze locked. When did he is this close to me? Too close, I can feel his hot breath on my face. His gaze fixedly at me and I think I'm about to be drowned in the sea of his clear brown eyes.

"Keep it covered until the bleeding stop." He stammered, cutting his enchantment that is about to captivate me.

"Oh..." And I obediently followed his step from behind, cheeks flushed with warmness.
