Chapter 24 - Recalling Last Night

Haru's ears turned red, his mouth dropped open, and his head began throbbing from a hangover. He shut his eyes tight as he tried his best to remember what happened that night. Unfortunately, the last thing he could recall was him being clingy towards Sakura while they were still at the beer garden.

He laid flat on his back and rested his free arm on his forehead to think about it once more. As soon as he closed his lids, the image of him kissing Sakura on her bed flashed before his eyes. His heart started to pound fast, and when he tried to get up, he was halted because her head was laying on his arm. He then gently removed his arm and propped himself on his side, and as her sleeping face was revealed due to his movement, he couldn't help himself but to stare at her parted lips.

'Oh, f*ck. Did I kiss her last night... or was I dream-'

His trail of thought was cut off when he finally realized that his naked torso was also exposed when the covers fell off his shoulders. It wasn't just his body, but Sakura's cleavage was also visible from her cute strawberry printed camisole. His heart started to race again and felt his morning wood get harder, causing him to move backwards and unintentionally hitting his head to the wall.

"Shit!" he hissed.

Haru rubbed the back of his head, then his chest as he tried to calm himself down. He carefully lifted the blanket, knowing that nothing had happened between them, and searched for his shirt on the bed while catching a glimpse of Sakura's body on his peripheral view. He eventually saw his black oversized top that he lent her before, and his forehead creased upon seeing his unbuckled belt.

He pulled the covers up to her shoulders and took one last look at Sakura before cautiously getting out of the bed. He dressed himself up and picked up the shirt he was wearing last night as he made his way out of the bedroom. He really wanted to wait for her to wake up to thank her before leaving, but just thinking of the embarrassing things he had done last night was already eating him up. He was also lucky he had woken up earlier than expected since he still had to go to work later in the afternoon.

He then stopped by the washroom and freshened himself up. After combing his hair with his fingers to achieve an almost slick back hairstyle, he dropped by the nearest konbini and bought a sandwich set for Sakura and an onigiri set for himself to cure their hangover. He returned to her apartment and left the meal set on the dining table before leaving the woman who was still dozing peacefully in her bedroom.

Afterwards, Haru headed out of the building and was still able to flash a smile to the female receptionists who greeted him. Unsure if they were the ones who were on their post last night, he quickly walked out of the premises until the sight of the building could not be seen any longer. He did not even notice the puddles of water on the cement due to the heavy downpour last night as he made his way to the train station.

And while on his way back home, plenty of questions were already running in his mind. What happened on their way to her apartment? Why was he sleeping beside her instead of the couch? Did he do or say something stupid?

But most of all, why was he kissing her in his dreams?

Finally, Haru reached home with seven more hours remaining before his 3 PM shift. He went to the living area as soon as he arrived, and placed the paper bag with his meal set, used shirt, and phone on the center table before removing his top. He then laid himself comfily on the sofa, and his eyes instantly felt heavy. But even before he could doze off, his phone rang.

He sluggishly grabbed his phone from the table and when he saw Sakura video calling him, his hands felt shaky. Things happened so fast that his phone slipped from his hand with the tip of it directly hitting his nose bridge.

"Hey," he greeted her softly after accepting her video call as his nose started to twitch.

"Oh my god!" Sakura quickly sat up, almost freaking out. "Why do you have a cut on your nose bridge? And why are you topless again? Are you home? Don't tell me you fall unconscious somewhere-"

Despite the hangover and drowsiness he was feeling, Haru couldn't help but to laugh, which made Sakura look questioningly at him. 'Here she goes again,' he thought, finding this habit of hers of bombarding him with questions silly, yet kinda cute.

"What?" she raised a brow.

He checked his face on the video call. "Oh, it's just a small cut, so don't mind it. I just bumped my face on the front door," he tried to reason out while staring at the lady in her cute camisole.

Sakura narrowed her eyes, "I'm not buying it," but the man, who really looked drowsy, only stared at her in response. "Alright..." she continued as she rubbed her eyes with the back of her index finger, "I'm just checking up on you since you just left without even waking me up," and covered her mouth with the back of her hand before yawning.

"It's because I didn't want to wake up a sleepyhead like you," he chuckled lightly.

"How dare you call me sleepyhead when I'm the one who took care of your drunk ass last night? Well, I'm just reminding you in case you're forgetting..." she bantered, rolling her eyes at him in a joking manner.

"Right," Haru's expression quickly changed. He didn't know where to start, so it took him a while before speaking again. "About last night... did I say or do something stupid…?"
