Teary-eyed he rubbed his eyes on his sleeve, "I'll call Jake, he will take you somewhere safe" and began to walk towards the window.
"But, I want to be with you." She went near him and put her hands around him as she had done at the party. He exhaled slowly but didn't shake her off. When she did face him, his eyes were streaked with tears and he fell down on the floor sitting on his knees.
She had always marveled at the thought of a vulnerable Ryan but now that he was in front of her, defeated and shaken, she couldn't leave him alone. He buried his face in her stomach and hugged her waist closing his eyes as she moved her fingers through his hair. The way she caressed him made him feel wanted.
