Ryan waited outside the room with his sister while Zara shot them both skeptical looks.
Alice gave her a reassuring nod and squeezed her shoulders a bit. Zara gave her a weak smile and hesitatingly opened the door to walk inside as she adjusted the glasses on her nose. Closing the door as quietly as possible, she reached the bed where Rebecca was sleeping. Zara saw that the room was mostly empty save a large bed and a wardrobe and a small coffee table by the side of the window.
Rebecca was covered in bandages and her face was swollen. Zara sat beside her and gently put her hand on Rebecca's. The arm that was bitten by one of the Val had bite marks and some disfigured skin but apart from that, it was mostly salvaged.
At Zara's touch, Rebecca opened her eyes. She had some difficulty speaking but her eyes shone with tears, "Are you... okay?"
Zara tried to smile, "I should be the one asking you that. How do you feel now?"
