Jake whispered softly, "I have suggested this before. Why can you not read her mind or let any of us do it instead?" His fingers had curled into fists and he was struggling to do something, anything to take Zara out of the pain he saw her in.
The healer replied sternly, "Because, that will worsen her condition. She is already struggling to reach her consciousness. If we muddle her brain anymore, she may lose her recent memory. That could be extremely useful in finding out what happened to her."
Jake wasn't happy to hear that but he knew there was no other option. He sighed and went back inside the cottage. Alice and Ryan had huddled in a corner and were talking to each other softly. Alice was trying to comfort her twin brother who wouldn't look at her.
"Ray, look at me please."
He avoided her gaze and kept looking outside the window. She reached for his shoulder and gently squeezed it. "You know we are trying our best right?"
