Veronica's lip curled up in a slow smile, "You know what, J? Maybe you can help Zara find a good date too. Now that you have mentioned it, I would like to know who do you find suitable enough for our friend."
Jake looked like a cat that had been cornered. He coughed a little as he tried to get his words out, "Umm..let me think. There aren't many good...options for her."
Veronica pounced on the sentence like a wild cat, "Oh, but you did say you knew someone, right? Pray, please tell us. I am dying to know."
Zara looked at his poor face and tried to take him out of his misery, "V, forget it. I am not going to prom and that's final."
Jake got up hurriedly from the table but Veronica caught at his hand and winked, "If you are running out of options, I have a solid date in mind for Z."
Jake shook his head and tried to wriggle out of Veronica's grip, trying to sheepishly avoid eye contact with both the girls.
