Chapter 1 - Prologue

I take things too easy in life.

"Hey man, we're going to the mini-mart today by the plaza. You wanna come?"

I hardly ever regret my decisions, it's as if every big mistake was just a simply a line in a beautiful drawing.

"Uh... Oh, yeah, I need to buy stuff for that project to."

It can either make the output beautiful, or unsightly.

The wind blows ever so slightly during the time after classes end. We can see the sun setting from the hill our school was laid upon as we took our steps down from it. The golden rays shining over the clouds and us below.

"Ah, I wish I had my camera right now." My friend, Azalee says. "Why is it always beautiful when I don't bring it? Ah..." He groans.

Azalee Kachoi is my cousin and a close friend of mine. We first met during our second years in high-school and we pretty much got together really fast. He also has a hobby in photography. When we had a filming project, people would debate over him for his good cinematography skills.

He had a slightly dark skin tone and a straight face. His hair was an orderly barber cut, the side hairs shaved and his top hair mid-cut. He was that orderly type of guy, never saw him get dirt on his stuff ever. He also had cool orange eyes, admiring the sun set.

"I could draw it if you want me to." Eshel suggested. "My drawings are as near picture perfect you know?" She boasted smugly, resting her hands in her hips with pride.

Eshel Clemons is my other friend. We also met during our second years, but she was a transferee. She claimed that she transferred because her mother disliked how the environment of her previous school was. We pretty much got close as well, we are the closest trio of our current class after all. She was excelled in Arts and was a natural at painting. Hence she was dubbed the Acrylic Princess of the class.

She also had a slightly dark skin tone, but a bit darker than Azalee's. Short dark wavy hair rests by her sides. Her blue eyes were shimmering as she swayed her head towards us.

"Well, we just have to keep it in memory for now. Lest we want the mart to close when we get there." I said, clearly making Eshel frown but it was understandable.

"True, true. Oliver might get beat up by his mom again for not going home early again." Azalee mused as he snickered behind his hand.

I shudder at the memory of being pinched at the ear until it bled by the sole woman who gave birth to me.

Oliver Wright, that's my name. Out of the three of us, I'm probably the most complex, and they too would agree. I'm the oldest out of us, but I am the most immature. I'm usually the one who gets us into trouble the most but they would still stick with me as if I wasn't a burden at all. I'm talented when it comes to science and music, two things that sound like they don't go well together. I don't know why people call it weird, I just love making music and mixing chemicals together.

My skin was the lightest of us three. Pale skin, but not sickly. I wear glasses, not because I'm trying to look edgy but because I'm near-sighted. My brown-blackish hair is also greasy and disheveled, I did this in purpose so that other people would be intimidated by me with my appearance. And then surprise them when I show them my easy-going personality. Fortunately my teachers are okay with this... they sort of treat me like some sort of anomaly. Or it's probably because I play the piano during the Church Masses every Wednesday.

I quickly shove those memories away as I quickly changed the subject. "Yeah, yeah. Anyways, we should hurry. It's bout to be 5pm, store closes at 6. Come on let's go, go, go..." I said as I grab the two persons by the sleeves of their clothes and walked briskly while dragging them.

As we talk about the things that happened at school earlier today while we walk towards our destination, Azalee quickly pointed out about something that he felt somewhat odd.

"Hey guys, don't you think the sky's a bit more golden than the other sunsets we've had before?" He said, eyeing the skies suspiciously.

I look towards the sky, and thought to myself. 'Hm, now that I think about it. It really seems more golden than the previous sunsets. Is today some sort of exception perhaps?'

"It's probably nothing." Eshel says, although I can tell she's quite unsure about what she had said. "Well, at least we get to experience a good looking sunset, I think they call these the golden hours?" She asked.

"Yeah, but..." Azalee said, but sighed and shrugged it off. 'Probably nothing, but I should bring that camera with me sometimes.' he thought.

Not long after our long walk, we finally reached the mart.

"Gemloren's Mart" the sign read with a generic commercial-looking artstyle. I can already feel Eshel shaking her head at the horrid art.

"Well, I've got the list of the stuff we need to buy for the project." Azalee said, as he took a small note from his backpack as he sent it to the deposit station.

"Mind if I tag along with you guys?" I asked.

Azalee shrugged. "Oh yeah, that's right, this is just a pair project. I almost forgot."

"Well, the three of us are usually in a group. I sometimes forget about that too." Eshel added.

"So, can I?" I asked once more.

"We're literally buying the same stuff anyways, why ask? Come on, let's hurry." Azalee said as we quickly move to find our requirements.

Even though it wasn't a huge mall, the mini-mart was still quite packed with people. We met some of our classmates as we bought our project materials, as well as some familiar faces, but over-all it was quite a normal time so far...

But that was until the 'event' happened.
