"Aaaaaaaaaaaah!"
I shot up from the bed I had been napping upon as I screamed, awakening to the cold winter wind whipping outside my open window. My hair was a mess of tangles and frayed ends, my clothes were wrinkled, my sweater was off both of my shoulders, my tank top was barely covering my bra and my breasts were falling out of said bra.
Such a lovely way to wake up....
My throat hurt from my scream, and my heart was pounding intensely. I held a hand to my heart a moment to calm it as I breathed in through my nose and out through my pursed lips. My psychiatrist told me to do this when I would awaken in a panic.
"It was just a dream."
I told myself, my heart finally calming down enough so I could fix my clothes, mostly to get my breasts back into my bra where they belonged. As I was fixing my clothes, I noticed it was very quiet inside the house, and wondered where everyone was, though I had ideas where some were such as Mike. He was probably at that cabin, screwing Jessica by then but like why did I dream what I dreamed after the fire and before I was on fire?
"Oh, Mike," I sighed while subconsciously straightening my hair and putting it into a ponytail, "I wish you would see that you should be with me, that I will love you unconditionally for all eternity," I whined to myself seeing as I was alone, then I remembered the dream, "why would I need to find Jessica?" I wondered out loud, confused. Had something happened while I was asleep that put Jessica in danger?
I huffed in defeat at not getting an answer from my abilities. I swung my legs over the side of the bed and slipped my sock covered feet into my shoes, leaning forward to make sure they were on properly with my fingers before standing up. I yawned while stretching before leaning over the bed to grab my phone, sliding it inside my bra, and then shifting to where I left my bag, making sure everything I would possibly need was inside. Once I was satisfied that I had everything I needed, I moved to the end of the bed and slid my arms into my winter jacket before sliding them into the straps of my backpack.
Finally ready to explore and find, I moved toward the door, yawning once again. I reached the door and unlocked it before grasping the knob, turning it, and swinging the door open. I left the bedroom to explore the other rooms, looking for anyone else. I was hoping to find Emily and Matt back safely, and Ash, Chris, and Josh playing with the spirit board but there was nothing.
Only silence greeted me.
I ignored the bathroom, knowing that Sam was in there taking a bath and since I was not a rude person, I wasn't going to barge in asking about the others. I would just leave her be since I didn't need to bother her.
Instead, I went downstairs, looking for Josh.
My best friend.
My boyfriend.
My very sick boyfriend.
"Josh?"
I called but there was no answer and that worried me. He could've gotten into trouble, or worse. I didn't want to think about what was worse.
"Josh? Honey? Where are you?" I called for him again but no answer.
I walked to the foyer and to the front door, opening it to reveal only a gush of cold winter wind and snow in my face.
"Damn you, Josh," I cursed him, "where the hell are you?"
Suddenly, I felt eyes on me and the eyes weren't exactly friendly. I slowly turned around to see a masked figure standing at the top of the stairs that faced me. I only had enough time to gasp before the figure came barreling down the stairs at me. I didn't see who it was, all I could see was a mask.
A hideous, horror movie mask.
It terrified me! I spun around on my heels and ran out of the safety of the lodge. It chased me toward the cabin Mike and Jessica were in.
Even though it was embarrassing, and I would probably interrupt them, I didn't care at that moment. I was scared and being chased by a creepy masked figure, they would have to deal with it.
I had been running for quite some time without looking back, so I didn't even know he had disappeared until I reached the smaller cabin and saw a horrible sight. I gasped at the broken glass shards everywhere and the blood on the snow.
"Oh, no," I held a hand to my mouth, "Mike...."
I was worried about him. I was also worried about Jessica, too, if I was truly honest with myself. I glanced behind me to check on the status of my pursuer but he must have given up for he was nowhere in sight.
I was safe.
For now.
I was alone.
Again.
I sighed a breath of relief for that ordeal but I turned to face the aftermath of whatever incident had happened here. I quickly and efficiently shifted into Detective mode so I could figure out what had happened if my abilities would let me. I knelt down beside the splatters of blood and shards of broken glass, placed a hand gently on the ground, and closed my eyes.
Whoosh!
I was taken back in time to merely minutes prior: I saw a strange-looking humanoid creature pull Jessica out of the window, breaking the glass as it did so and probably slicing her somewhere to provide the blood that was on the ground, then Mike came running out of the cabin with a shotgun, screaming her name. Lastly, I saw Jessica's half-clothed form drop to the ground of what looked like the mines. She was alive, I was sure of it.
Whoosh!
I was back in the present, which was when I noticed the footprints of a running man, in this case, it was Mike. Ignoring that this was what I had dreamt, I stood up and ran in the direction of the footsteps, I was determined to find him, and I was never going to leave his side until all of this strange horror movie shit had stopped, until we were back in Beachcastle City, Montana.
Michael Munroe was my only hope of survival, even if he was currently dating Jessica. He was the safest person to be with at this particular moment, so the two would just have to deal with me staying by his side until this was all over. That little fact was just something I had to deal with even if it broke my heart....
