Chapter 37 - Leaving 2

"Are you trying to tell me that as the headmaster of this school, you have no idea what goes on in your own school?" Mr Asare asked with an annoyed look.

"Listen Mr Asare, I don't understand why you would want to take such a drastic action about your daughters education. Remember she is on a scholarship here," Mr Danso said.

"I know. That is the more reason why I want to get her out of here. I thought you and I agreed to keep her pregnancy in secret. What happened? How come it is all over the whole school?" Mr Asare asked, almost raising his voice.

"That was the plan. If the whole school knows about it then I have no idea how it got out. Listen, Mr Asare, I will investigate and find out who took it out," the headmaster said.

"Don't bother yourself. That won't be necessary. But do you know what hurts me the most. The fact that teachers who are supposed to be helping students like my daughter are the same ones helping to spread unwarranted rumors about her. I can't believe this is how some of your teachers behave. This is so unprofessional."

"What! I had no idea this is what was happening. Please, I really apologise for this. Concerning Chantel's education, please think about it again."

"One thing you should know about me, Mr Danso is that, when I decide something which concerns my family, I go all out. I would not have taken this decision if my daughter was not affected by this whole thing."

"Are you saying, Chantel is okay with this?"

"Yes, she is. So, as I earlier said, I am getting my daughter out of this school. If there is any paperwork needed to be done to ensure the process moves swiftly and smoothly, then please do that. As for me, I am going out there to get my daughter. Have a nice day," Mr Asare said and walked out of the office.

He walked towards his car at the car park when he saw Adiepena. He immediately recognised her as Chantel's friend.

"Hey, Adiepena. How are you doing?" he asked her, when she approached him.

"Hello, Mr Asare. I am fine sir," she replied.

"I wanted to go and see Chantel and I am glad I ran into you. I wanted to ask, is she okay?"

"She is fine, sir. She was a bit sad yesterday buy she is much better today. We can go right now to go see her," Adiepena answered.

"But, aren't you going to fetch water?" Mr Asare pointed to the bucket Adiepena was holding.

"Yes, I was. It's just that the tap was no longer flowing so we have to go down the road to get some. But I can still take you to her then quickly come back and fetch the water," she offered.

"No need, my dear. Just go and fetch your water. I will just go up and see her. Thank you anyway."

"It's no problem, sir. I will go fetch the water then. I will be back very soon." She said and turned, while she waved at the older man.

Mr Asare then took the foot path that led to the dormitory. He went straight inside and climbed up the stairs. Chantel was lying in her bed, reading a book when her father walked in. Surprisingly, there was no one else in the room with her.

Chantel jumped up when she saw her father and ran to hug him. He hugged his daughter tightly and let go of her when she broke the hug.

"Baby girl, how are you?" he asked her.

"I am fine, father. I am so glad you came. I have been waiting for you for a while," Chantel said.

"Where are the rest of your roommates? I met Adiepena earlier and she said she was going to get some water."

"Yeah. The tap stopped flowing so they all had to go out to get some water to bathe."

"But, why did you not go there as well?"

"Cynthia offered to fetch some for me. Even though I had already taken my bathe. I woke up earlier and the tap was flowing at that time so I was able to take my bathe."

"Okay. Anyway, I spoke with the headmaster and told him I was coming for you. I let him know that from now on, you are no longer going to be in this school. I won't allow anybody bully you like this."

"So what did he say?"

"He did not want to agree but eventually there is nothing he can do about it. So, he has no choice than to accept it. I did not give him much of a choice though," her father admitted.

"Father, can we please wait till the other girls get back? I have not told them I am leaving the school for good and I also need to say goodbye to them."

"I understand. Have you already packed your clothes?" her father asked her.

"Yes I have."

"Then I guess I will have to pack all of them in the car."

"Sure. Let me help you father."

Both father and daughter packed Chantel's bags and took them downstairs. They both went to the car pack and packed all the bags in the car. Chantel went back to the form and waited for her friends to return.

After waiting for a few minutes, the girls were finally back from their errand. Cynthia and Adiepena walked into the room looking a bit tired.

"You girls look tired. Where did you girls go to fetch the water?" she asked them.

"We went to the last three houses on this road. It was quite far from here. My back is aching already," Cynthia complained as Chantel just giggled.

"Hey, I saw your father earlier. Has he been here already?" Adiepena asked.

"Yes." Chantels mood suddenly changed, worrying both girls.

"What's wrong, Chantel? Did something happen?"

"Girls, there is something I have to tell you. My father has been here and he is waiting for me. The thing is, I am leaving school," chantek announced.

Both girls looked at her in surprise. "Wait! Are you leaving to go and spend some time with your parents like the other day?" Cynthia asked.

"No. Actually, this time, I am not coming back."

Cynthia and Adiepena looked at each other then looked back at Chantel who had a serious look on her face.
