Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Fickle fire

Alex blinked out, leaving Christopher alone; he had to find a healer. Alex decided to go to the wealthiest district of Saint Rothen instead of the adventure's guild since he had already killed two healers there. If he blinked into a healer's apartment again, he would have to kill again after being done with him creating an unnecessary commotion. Although Alex was a bipolar Sociopath, he didn't involve people; he didn't have to create problems for himself.

He may kill because people are at the wrong place at the wrong time, but that was their fault. Who told them to go there? If it's raining and you get wet, who's fault is it? Is it the rain for falling, or yours for being in the rain? To Alex, he and the rain were both natural phenomenons.

Alex went to the first clinic he saw, but it was closed. But that did not matter; healers would reserve the building's top floor for their sleeping quarters and the lower floor as their office. Alex used ghost fade and walked into the building, accessing the top floor.

The top floor was well lit, designed as a loft, with an open floor concept. The building would have costed a fortune on earth; it was truly breathtaking.

The dining room led to a balcony; no doubt this was a selling feature. In the kitchen area, there was a woman behind the kitchen island making dinner. She had already set the table in the dining room for two. Most likely, she was expecting a date. The woman was a little thick beauty, 5'3 in height, long black hair, brown eyes, small hands, and just the right amount of freckles to make her face shine despite them. Alex estimated that she was in her early or mid-twenties. She was the type of girl he was attracted to physically.

'Inspect'

Name: Wendy Waterfield

Level: 12

Race: human

Class: healer

Element: light

Mana core: level 1

HP: 160

Mana: 190/190

STR: 80

Agility: 130

Intelligence: 200

Stamina: 100

As Alex approached the kitchen, the woman didn't see him; she was focused on stirring what was in the pot while smiling. The guy she was probably about to meet must have made her feel that good. Once Alex was seven feet away from the kitchen island, he stopped there. The woman would giggle at whatever she was imagining.

"ahem... ahem... Madam, I am here because..." Alex did not finish speaking when he saw three dark purple rings appear on the floor around the kitchen island. The woman was a mage, chanting a spell.

Alex drew one blade, blinked to the side of the woman with the tip of the blade pointed in a piercing motion at her neck. While waving his other finger, telling her, 'don't do it, you don't want to see who is faster.'

Alex's instant movement and blade caused her to gasp, interrupting the spell she was chanting. The three circles disappeared while making a glass-shattering sound.

Alex withdrew his blade and placed it back in his sheath; he did not want to poison her accidentally. That would force him to waste more time to find another healer. He then stepped back two feet from her. Since he did not want to make her uncomfortable either.

Portraying his idea of a gentleman, Alex cleared his throat, "ahem...I know what this looks like, but I am not the type of man that would sexually assault and kill a young woman. (lie) I am here because I need a healer to reattach an arm. I will pay the normal fee thrice for disturbing you."

"Are you related to Baron Waterfield?" Alex asked in an attempt to be unfrightening even with his mask and cloak.

Hearing Alex's speech Wendy was not expecting an intruder to be polite. When she heard her father's name, she guessed Alex was polite to her because of her father. To her, the Intruder must have feared her father or worked for him in some capacity, so she thought.

Her father played a big role in her life. She was able to rent such a building because of him. Thinking this, the woman's confidence came back to her. She walked towards Alex with anger all over her tiny face, making her attractive in any other situation. She stopped in front of Alex, point her finger, and said, " that's right, he is my father, if you don't want to die, then I suggest you leave now, or I will tell him".

Wendy said her words menacingly as possible. But she was in for a surprise.

Alex slapped the left side of her face, hard enough that she sent flying to the floor. In shock, she looked up into Alex's orange eyes while her hand touched the left side of her face.

Alex walked to her, bent down, slightly meeting her height, never breaking eye contact, partially remove his mask, exposing his lips, cradled her chin, and kissed her lips lightly.

Wendy was in shock; she did not move while Alex was kissing her. Alex then calmly fix his mask back on; while still gently gripping onto her chin, he said, "Princess, I think that you might have mistaken me for some type cunt."

Alex then stood up, walked to the kitchen, and peek at what was in the pot before deactivating the mana stone enabling the flames.

His bipolar personality was on full display.

He sat on a stool and crossed his legs as he waited for Wendy to understand her situation. Giving shock affects people in different ways.

It took Wendy three minutes to process what happened. Anger came back to her tiny face, and she was about to lash out again when the buzzer downstairs sounded. Wendy looked at Alex, and Alex looked at Wendy. For a moment, Wendy was happy until Alex shook his head while partially drawing one of his ghost blades, dissuading Wendy of any foolish thoughts. Alex approached the window, slowly slight the curtain, peeked outside, to the welcomed sight of a knight at the door.

Wendy withdrew her piercing eyes from Alex and looked down at the floor while tears streamed down her face. In her mind, Alex was ruining her world. She wanted this date with that knight. She made sure her loft was clean, cooked, and did her hair, making sure she was presentable.

Alex walked beside the damsel in distress.

"I am sorry about this, I truly am, the job will take only twenty minutes, and then you can contact him through your talisman and tell him you had to reattach an arm." Alex said to her in the sweetest way possible.

But his words were venom-like. He was sending this damsel to die; the knights and the mercenary would be sure to be looking for someone that reattached an arm recently. Her telling that knight of her encounter with Alex would make them treat her as an enemy.

Wendy nodded her head and wiped her tears. Alex then escorted her downstairs into her office.

"I will be back in ten seconds; don't move, ok princess, I would hate to have to look for you and plunge my blade in your heart," Alex said before disappearing/blinking back to Christopher.

Christopher was lost in thought when Alex blinked inside. he was too exhausted to be startled.

"Let's go; I found a healer." Alex did not even wait for Christopher to reply before blinking away with him and the chair. Alex arrived back in the healer's office five seconds after he left. Wendy did not move from her position; it was almost as if she was obedient.

"He is the person I want you to heal, reattach his arm and heal all his broken bones," Alex said.

Hearing Alex's words, anger resurfaced in Wendy's eyes 'you cost me to miss my date,'

"Healing him will cost you three hundred gold coins, and you will pay the fee thrice," Wendy replied.

She inflated the price five hundred percent hoping to hurt Alex's pocket or make him look stupid if he asked for her to lower the cost. Christopher felt re-energized after hearing the price to heal him since he knew he didn't have that kind of money. Alex calmly took out nine hundred gold coins, rested them on her desk, and then stood to the side.

Seeing this, Christopher was stunned, and Wendy angered. She walked to Christopher and started healing him.

The Chris's hand that was severed was partially reattached since Wendy's healing ability wasn't so high. Once all the major tendons were connected wendy badge it up since she was at her limit. To fully regain the function of his hand, Chris would have to allow it to heal naturally.

After twenty minutes, Christopher was almost completely healed. Besides feeling drained he felt as if he was never tortured; there was no evidence except for his partially reattached hand and the lingering memories. Wendy then took out a bottle of a red potion that looked like a regular health potion and told Christopher to drink it, and he would if Alex did not grab it out of his hand.

  'Inspect'

*Ding*

Name: Soromic "Arsenic" Poison

Effects: vomiting, abdominal pain, encephalopathy, uncontrollable watery diarrhea, loss of mana. If left untreated, the victim can die in thirty days.

Alex frowned at such an insidious poison, but who was he to judge. He would have allowed Christopher to drink such a poison if it would not have interfered with the quest and waste his time. Alex walked up to Wendy, and she backed away until her back was to a wall, as Alex stood in front of her with one hand on his ghost blade, the other holding the poison.

"Princess, If I was to take you upstairs, remove your clothing, expose that soft butt cheeks of yours, lay you across my lap, and rain down repeated slaps on them, would you say that you earned it?" Alex whispered while looking at her in her eyes. Just by hearing Alex's words, Wendy's small face went back to her angry mood.

"Did you not charge three times the price?" this time, Alex roared at her.

"Did you not receive benefits thrice at your inflated price?" Alex's voice got louder than his last roar, which startled her; what she did was nothing but a prank in her mind. She saw Alex's eye change from blue to orange, and she regretted her decision.

'She did receive more than she would make in one visit; why did she have to do such a thing? They didn't hurt her; at least Christopher didn't.'

Tear immediately streamed down her face as she looked down and apologized.

"I'm sorry," she said in a low, meek voice. Alex backed away from her, placing the bottle in his storage ring.
