# 5: History of Witchers In DxD.
_____
After staying here for a couple of days I decided to look around the cabin's perimeter instead of waiting for someone to come and I ran into a wounded woman.
She seems to be in her 30's, normally I wouldn't bother, normally this kind of stuff will only bring trouble because tropes say so but I can't let her die since she's a Valkyrie and I have a raven watching me.
So, I carried her back to the cabin cleaned her wounds, I can't wash her since it would be improper, then I went hunting some animals she would be hungry once she wakes up.
__________
I was done cooking the stew when I felt my companion reaching for her knife and it followed by the said knife being held to my neck, too bad for her I already have countermeasures for this but that won't be needed.
"I don't think this is the proper way to thank someone. I mean I can just feel the gratitude radiating out of you." I point out sarcastically.
"What happened to the huldra!?"
"The what?"
"Owner of this cabin!" Ohh, she didn't write her race in her notes and I didn't check her race, again...
"She was being tortured by some fallen, she died after I took him down"
"Damn stray fallens. What did you do with the body?"
"Burned the crow and buried the girl to the back."
"Then why are you here?"
"I read the girl's notes and figured it would be better if I waited for someone."
"*thump* Sorry kid I have been on edge over some time, my name's Hilda. What's your name?" Now named Hilda drops the knife and asks.
I turned around it seems she got surprised because of my eyes"My name is Jacob here I made stew."
"You're not scared?" Hilda asks accepting the stew, she didn't even check for poison before eating.
"Please, you're injured I could kill you without even moving. You're scared of my eyes?" I ask with a childish smile, I mastered the technique with Beth.
"I just wasn't expecting but you need to do better to scare me." After that, we talked a bit and I learned that she is indeed a Valkyrie and she was sent here to protect and escort the huldra...
Turns out these species make good slaves but Hilda got ambushed on the way and the weakest of them slipped.
She's been trying to reach here for a while but since she was injured and was being hunted by the ones that had four pairs of wings. She barely killed her attackers before passing out, after talking she went to sleep and I started meditating.
The next day she was good enough to walk around and saw the Yrden sign I placed
"Did you make these Jacob? I don't recognize the runes it looks Nordic but somehow I can tell they don't belong to Asgard."
"They are signs special to witchers although I can learn other magic this stuff fits my fighting style better." I spent enough time in Asgard territory to trust them and I potentially have Odin's Raven on my tail, lying would be unwise.
"Legendary mercenaries that take contracts!? I thought all of them died, I should have known from the eyes!"
Wait there were witchers in DxD before? Also, what's up with that reaction? Why does she have stars in her eyes!?
"What happened to them?" I ask, some excitement apparent in my voice.
"They were powerful some say some were even able to fight primordial gods with enough preparations and they got hired a lot during the great war.
They died out since the formula used to create them was lost and witchers were infertile well at least that was how it was supposed to be but we got you here.
You said you're 11 that's too early for the mutations if I remember right, you're too young for the mutations meaning you must've born like this and going by that logic you should be able to have children too.
It's like the second coming of a new race. *heavy panting*" What's up with that thinking pattern! Also what's up with her panting!? How did she concluded that I must be fertile? This world is ridiculous!
"You are enthusiastic about this." I say with a wry smile.
"Sorry, I lost myself, then how should I pay you for saving my life?
That fallen could have come back and killed me, oh oh let's do that law of surprise thing!"
"Calm your horses, law of surprise is not a toy you could lose something important."
[According to the Witcher wiki, Law of surprise: Giving the first thing you see when you go to your house or something you have but didn't know.]
"Please I want to try it, my family is wealthy among others in Asgard, you could get anything but let's make the conditions complex for extra fun."
"No need for complexity and this is not a game but if you want to give something give me the first thing you see when you get in your home."
She pouted because of how simple it was but she said she will honor it, I hope that she will either see something valuable or something useful to me, like books on Norse magic since that's kept secret even here in Norway.
Hilda stayed here for another day to rest, she said normally they would have healing magic but her family doesn't specialize in them and teleported back to Asgard
She gave me her communication circle(it's like a phone number) and taught me magic to repair clothing(Martha didn't have such spells) it would definitely make my job easier and she refused to teach me Norse magic, I was looking forward to it.
After she left I resumed my journey to the mountain.
________
(3rd POV following Hilda)
"That's my report Allfather." Hilda finishes her report and waits for her next mission.
"Sigh I will assign someone else to the woods but putting that aside. It seems you met the young witcher." Odin says while listening to his Raven telling its version of events.
"Allfather did you knew about him?"
"Heh it was me, Coismo and Alzur were the ones invented those signs of course I noticed him."
[AN: Coismo and Alzur were taken from withcer wiki.]
"What are your thoughts Allfather can we draw him to our side?"
"He seems promising, let's hope he won't die early and I hear you couldn't hold yourself, Hilda. Going around promising payments."
Hilda just blushed she has a weak point for conspiracy theories and ancient history like Witchers, Trihexa and such even her daughter inherited that part from her much to her mother's dissatisfaction.
"Let's hope you won't regret invoking the law of surprise you may leave." Odin dismissed Hilda with a smile.
After that Hilda made her way to her home, since she and her husband are warriors of Asgard they left their daughter at her retired mother's house.
The only thing in the house would be weapons and books not anything important to her if she needs to give it away.
In her muddled state, she made it into her house only to get shocked by the small body flying at her, she caught the body and looked at the small girl who jumped at her.
"Rossweisse what are you doing here?"
"I came to visit with grandma she said you were late coming from your mission." Rossweisse answers cutely with a head tilt.
"Yes there was some trouble but a young man helped me out..."
At this moment Hilda realized that the first thing she saw when coming in was her daughter and at that moment she realized her payment.
Jacob warned her but she didn't listen and she didn't listen to Allfather's warning(teasing) neither, in the end, all she could say was "FUCK!"
