Chapter 12 - 12-Leaving the space (5)

The wind whistled harshly against her ears. The waves and surging currents tossed her around. One moment she was breathing the next moment she was submerged under water. All the tossing, turning, swallowing made her unable to concentrate.

When she was finally able to gather her bearings another wave came crashing fown on her. Fuck. She had no choice but to start absorbing immediately.

The waster rushed towards her. She stretched out her hands and concentrated, absorbing the water slowly. It was difficult to concentrate as the seas were restless but she could only grit her teeth and persevere.

Rina had never felt so tortured in her life. All the tossing was making her dizzy and she almost lost conciousness.

'I can't lose consciousness here . No. It mustn't happen. I have to endure.' She bit her tongue and the taste of blood filled her mouth. The pain woke her up. She calmed her racing heart and focused on her surrondings. she could feel the waves tossing her about but she paid no heed to it concetrating on absorbing the power as fast as she could instead.

After what seems like forever the raging sea had now dwindled to become a lake and soon that disappeared too. Cough cough cough. Rina coughed her lungs out gasping for breath. 'I made it', that was the last thing she thought and she passed out.

"Xie Luo, how is she? How is my daughter?" Xie Luo sighed and looked at the anxious Mylus. His face was deathly pale, maybe because of how much power it took to open the Dragon gate or how worried he was for the little girl. For once Xie Luo didn't make fun of Mylus and answered him solemnly instead, "I've done everything I can to protect and help her. Everthing depends on her now."

"Why didn't you stay to protect her Xie Luo? She's but a child."

"I know Mylus. I know. I feel like my heart has been dug out. I wish I could protect her myself but you know how that dreadful place is. Staying there will just kill me and that's not helping anyone."

Ka. Sage banged his staff on the floor drawing the attention of Xie Luo and Mylus. "Then there's not much that can be done. We can only leave the rest up to fate." Xie Luo and Mylus looked at each other and for once they agreed on something.

"Well, we'll just have to wait for her then and I'm sure she'll make it." "What makes you so confident? Even you will have a had time surviving in that place." Xie Luo asked. Mylus smirked, "She is my daughter after all." Xie Luo smiled and sighed, "Well let's hope she doesn't let us down."

Rina gasped for air, her chest heaving up and down. She coughed out a lot of water too. Her face was a deathly pale. Shin watched her, still munching on sunflower seeds. She finally gathered enough strength to push herself off the floor. She stood up shakingly. "What's next?" she whispered.

"Huh? Did you say something?"

"I said what's next?!" she barked, gritting her teeth, fists clenched. Shin cocked an eyebrow, "Don't you want to rest?" Rina shook her head, "I want to get this over and leave this place."

Shin nodded. She had the spirit to become the master of this space.

"Move on to the next crystal then"

Rina smirked, "Next crystal? I'm doing both!" She smacked her palms together and sat down. The space started to tremble. Shin's eyes grew wide as he watched the two crystals come together in front of her. Her eyes shot open. One green, the other brown. In front of her was a large forest.

The trees towered into the skies. The dense undergrowth blocked her vision. She didn't want to waste time on this. From her previous experiences the less fearful she was the faster the process was. She was calm. Maybe because it was the earth. What nursed life. She felt something calling her and responded to it.

She started walking into the forest, her slow walk soon turned into a full on sprint. If there was any plant blocking her way she'd absorb without hesitation. After it seemed like she had been running for days the view before her became bright.

She was in a wide field filled with grass and flowers. The view was breathtaking. The breeze was soo comfortable. She felt all her exhaustion leave her body. She looked up.

There it was. What was calling her. It was a small crystal. A beautiful mix of brown and green. She fixed her eyes on it and beckoned it to her. The crystal floated down to her and she held it tenderly in her hand. It was the same size as her. She closed her eyes and slowly absorbed it.

Rina finally opened her eyes. She was back in the space. Shin's mouth was agape. "What?" she asked. "That took less than an hour? H-H-How??"

Rina winked, "I told you I got a hang of it."
