After about an hour of tirelessly walking down the river Otis and Greg realized it wasn't helping at all. They were still as lost as ever. And Greg hadn't found any frogs.
"It's dark now, Greg we need to find shelter, who knows what kind of creatures will be in the woods." Otis grabbed Greg and walked down to a cluster of trees. They were in the middle , the trees surrounded them in a circle, making them feel safer.
Otis found some large branches and sticks and made a kind of wall all around them. He piled up some leaves in the middle where they were.
"Do you think we will ever get back home?" Greg whispered, scared.
"Of course we will." Otis said, unsure if they would actually get back.
They laid down on their matters of leaves, and pondered at the night sky above. Gazing at the bright stars. They both closed their eyes and wandered into the land of dreams...
"Greg." Otis grumbled, rubbing his eyes. "Greg! Greg wake up!" Otis shook Greg until he had finally woken up. "Lets go, it's daylight now we can look for a house or something. Someone who can help us back home."
"Ughhh." Greg moaned, laying back down on the leaves. "I wanna sleep Otis." Greg cried, shoving his head into the soft leaves.
Otis picked up Greg and left the tree fortress they had constructed. He grabbed a long stick to use as a waking stick. He leaned on the walking stick and waked on, carrying sleeping Greg on his back.
After about an hour of walking, Greg woke up and walked next to Otis. They walked for a few more hours until they stumbled upon a large wooden cabin. A man was outside, rocking back and forth on a wooden rocking chair.
Otis and Greg immediately ran up to him.
Otis addresses the man calmly, " Hello, my name is Otis and this is my brother, Greg." Otis glanced at Greg. Then he continued, " We are lost from home, could you help us find are way back?"
The old man coughed and then looked up. In a shaky, fragile voice, the man said "These woods are very dangerous for young folk like yourselves.I don't know the way back to town, but you can stay here for awhile if that is fine with y'all."
"Thanks very much, we would love to stay here." Otis replied. Otis grabbed Greg and stepped in.
