Chapter 1 - Return

Niavo a small country in the middle of the continent surrounded by mountains and rivers. It was deeply in the central part of the world, in the city of Nimond, a youth was sitting on top of a ten-story high building.

A handsome young man who currently resembled a homeless was looking down on the city with his empty eyes, but suddenly he closed his eyes from a tremendous pain that hit him, causing him to fall back to the floor.

After opening his eyes once more, he changed. It was not something that would typically happen. He clearly remembered a fight between him and his lover. At the end of the fight, Kovacs has fallen into one of the purgatory's rivers.

He was always jumping between past and present, getting tortured for his sins. For eternity from then onwards, he was lost in the madness of time.

Getting on his feet and walking towards the window, he could see the city lights constantly flashing, feeling lost. He tried to feel his souls, but this time he couldn't. Every time he was inside the purgatory punishment, he still had his Hell and purgatory soul, but now both of them were missing. On top of that, it seemed like he had a mortal soul.

"Isn't this the building where I spent my nights before entering the university?"

"Did I fell into the river of time and space instead of the punishment and pain?"

"This seems so real that it's even surprising to me, but where did my souls go?"

"Logically, with rebirth, they shouldn't disappear, but then what happened? Why am I back?"

Raith Kovacs had little to no story back at earth because not long after entering university, he was hit by a car and started his afterlife journey. After passing the river of the dead, he found himself fighting for dark energies in Hell. Then climbing higher, he managed to reach purgatory, but at the 3rd Plane of purgatory, but there he was backstabbed by the love of his life, Wrath Rose.

Now he knew that the third Plane should be the Plane of betrayal, a painful one for sure.. but the souls have to fight through every obstacle that each Plane places before them.

"I suppose it's good to be back. I should be able to make much more out of it this time!"

"Even if both of my souls lost, I can just start again!"

"Yes, the earth should be capable of helping me to recreate my Hell Soul again."

A frown appeared on his face... as he thought things through, he stopped himself from jumping down; Kovacs was currently a mortal; it would be too pitiful dying like that when he just got his second chance. He then tapped around his body and pulled out his phone from his pocket.

After turning it on, the date was a bit off. He was actually one week before the university registration and three weeks before his so-called accident. After making sure he wasn't dreaming, he started thinking about what to do next.

Today was when he visited their distant relatives with his two little sisters Raith Anna and Raith Luna. Were allowed to stay with the Bancroft family, but he had to leave because he was too dirty, he still didn't understand the reasoning for that, but as long as his sisters could live a happy life, it was worth it, as for the current him it was even better.

"Currently, I have nothing but time; I should be able to become a twisted soul."

"But the problem is, how do I lose my sanity?"

"Wait, didn't people on earth sold drugs?"

"It should be less painful than hitting my head into a rock every time I want to become stronger."

Kovacs quickly left the empty building and headed towards the busy streets, occasionally he saw some shady figures, but there were way too many witnesses, so he has chosen to continue searching, after entering the city subway tunnels he found that at the late hours there were noticeably fewer people came to this place.

While wandering around, he also searched for anything that could be used as a weapon. He was a homeless man with nothing, so finding something useful was rather hard; after 20 minutes of scavenging, he managed to find some sharp broken glasses.

In the afterlife, the most natural thing was killing; everyone, including himself, was killers who survived countless bloody battles and climbed to the peak at his opponents' bodies.

After a little searching, he found another shady-looking man. Luckily for him, he just opened his business, which meant he was still pretty much full. This was shown by the fact that only a small crowd of addicts were circling the area.

"Hey"

"Hey, kid, what do you need?"

"Do you have drugs?"

"I have the best goods in these streets, Heroin, Cocaine, whatever you need!" Said the man proudly.

"Do you have something that can break my mind?"

"Look here. This little thing is called LSD; just taking one will take you on a long trip to a fantasy world!"

Looking at the item in the man hands, Kovacs was quite happy, as he put his left hand to his pocket the man also focused on it, not realizing the glass shard in his right hand, he swiftly cut the guy throat, who in response held his neck with both of his hands to stop the bleeding.

"Fuck, what the fuck, you little shit!"

As the man tried to pull out his gun, he was easily disarmed and kicked to the ground by Kovacs decisive blow. After checking out the pistol, he stomped on the guy's neck until his spine broke.

After a little pickpocketing, he also gained 500 euros and ten doses of LSD. He didn't take the rest of the drugs, instead started screaming for the nearby addicts.

"Guys come here free, Heroin and Cocaine!"

It didn't take long for the nearby addicts to swarm the dealer dying body. They didn't care for him for one bit and started fighting over the drugs he possessed.

Kovacs did all this to slow down police investigation. With countless people fingerprints all over the body, it would be impossible to determine who the killer was. It would also further complicate things if these addicts couldn't say anything since they would probably die from an overdose.

Since he secured the drug, he needed to find something filled with negative energy such as Pride, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, Greed, Gluttony, and Lust. These energies were often called Etheric Energy. The soul needed to become stronger.

Thinking to this point, the next thing he had to find was a graveyard. After a little thinking, he started wandering the Main Streets once again until around 3 am at this time, there was basically no one on the street; it was as empty as it could be.

While he was waiting, he spent his time surfing the internet for any giant graveyard nearby. He accidentally found a post about an abandoned underground city. The guy even wrote down the entrances to the place. After buying food and drinks, he headed for that exact localization.

The city's entrance was directly next to the Central Park of Nimond, as he guessed there weren't that many people around. Occasionally cars passed by, but they paid little to no attention to him after opening up the tunnel cover. After climbing down, he closed it down behind himself.

He was planning to stay down for days, so it was only natural that he didn't want people to know about him entering the underground tunnels.

Ignoring the bad smell, he started to descend deeper into the tunnels. After about 30 minutes he reached the center of the underground city. From there, he could use the map he had previously saved on his phone to find the graveyard. As he got closer, the smell became worse and worse until it was actually the smell of decaying bodies.

"Ugh, this is just terrible; I didn't expect it to be this bad."

Finding rotten bodies all around the place, going deeper, only the skeletons remained. The road and tunnels themselves were made out of skeletons; after finding a small empty tomb, Kovacs decided to stop there and harvest the Etheric Energy.

In the end, Kovacs only had one precious thing in his possession, which was his body. To earn Etheric Energy, he first took LSD to travel to the world of dreams; his first trip lasted an entire 24 hours.

During this time, his soul became a First Order Twisted Soul; as his soul changed, his body strength rose by a little, followed by a small scar forming around his heart and stretched all the way to his right hand.

He could control this change by the will to be shown or be hidden from sight; as he became more robust, he could now visibly see the souls envious gases directed towards him.

"Guys, don't look at me like that; it's not my fault that I'm more handsome than you guys!"

"There is also the fact that I'm alive, unlike you!"

He was now a First-order Twisted Soul. He wasn't that much scared from angering the surrounding mortal souls. He needed much more Etheric Energy because his body became more robust. The effects of the LSD has lessened by a significant margin. To counter the loss of time, he will harvest Wrath alongside Envy.

The reason for them staying here was also easy to answer. All of them had the opportunity to leave, but they didn't know-how, or some could cross the river of death but didn't have the courage to enter Hell; they are just wandering earth aimlessly until their soul gets destroyed by time.

The following three days went relatively peacefully. He had to stop at Forth Order Twisted Soul because Kovacs used up all the LSD he possessed. With a sane mind, he was incapable of continuing his progress.

Now he had four scars around his body, each leading towards different limbs. As he utilized his strength, he could easily break x.

As for why these changes happen, it's related to the soul. The stronger someone's soul, the more strength the world law gives to them. Every world works by these laws. Be it Hell, purgatory, or even Heaven, the soul comes first. Everything else is unimportant.

"Finally, I don't have to be scared of anything here!"

Just as he said this, he heard a distant screaming getting closer by every passing second. As he walked out of the passage, a woman bumped into him, who then fell to the ground by his side.

"Are you alright?"

"Yes, thank you!"

"Why were you screaming?"

"I think something was chasing me, but thinking back, I must have imagined silly me."

"No, You were right, Look."

Kovacs pointed to the ceiling, the woman followed with her sight and really there was a pair of red eyes looking at them, while the woman couldn't see, Kovacs saw a skinny skeleton-like creature who had flesh in his mouth and fresh blood was dripping from its hands.

"Well, we already have a little group here, so what's your name?" Asked Kovacs as he turned towards the woman. To be safe, he also put his right hand on his gun; better to be safe than sorry.

"I'm Lidrac Isabelle."

"Oh, that's a nice name; what about you?" Asked Kovacs as he looked towards the creature with red Eyes.

"Wait, nvm, first tell me, what are you? No matter how hard I think, I can't think of a creature like you."

This was already praise, he came back after climbing through Hell, but he never once met a creature like that, it greatly shocked him to the core, but he quickly regained his calmness.

"So, give me a name and a race!"

"Also, don't even try to play dumb that you don't understand what I am saying. If that were the case, you would have attacked both of us a long time ago!" Said Kovacs with a massive grin on his face.
