Chapter 52 - CHAPTER 51: END OF TERM....

Two shadows came into view from the side of the school building, They walked side by side as they discussed. The shadows came into the faint ray of the sun revealing their identities, one was Prof. Hiro and the other.... Miss Wade.

"Are you worried?" Prof. Hiro asked.

"I am sir...." Miss Wade said.

"Why...? If I may ask.."

"It's about those kids in my class..." She began. "They haven't gotten to the stage of standing alone before they met up with this battle the elders were supposed to handle."

Silence.

"And now that they are going out of our reach.."

"You are worried if they would be able to protect themselves in a fight?" Prof. Hiro Finished her sentence. "I understand..."

They walked few meters without uttering another word, the pressure was uneasy and they seemed to be buried their thoughts.

"They going far from our reach is definitely a disadvantage to us and them." Prof. Hiro broke the silence. "But on the other hand.. they won't break easily."

"Are you saying..."

"Before getting into D class, they all have proved themselves capable of surviving tough situations." Prof. Hiro crossed his arm backwards. "Something a lot of Gifted these days can't do."

"I still don't understand sir."

They halted.

"There's more to those kids than you know..." He turned. "and besides... They have bonded well. So they will definitely support each other."

They walked past the garden as they attorn other matters at hand.

"So... The terms over.."

"Yeah..."

Silence.

"What's wrong Sandy?"

"It's nothing Neil... It's just..." Sandy lowered his head.

Neil looked at his friend for a while and noticed sadness on his face, he guessed something had gone wrong.

For the millionth time he held himself back from simply reading the red hair's mind.

"You don't have a place to stay, do you?" Neil telepaths.

"I do..." Sandy thought after few seconds of silence. "Am gonna go back.."

"To the orphanage... The same place that kicked you out." Neil asked.

"Yupe..."

"And how'd you pull that stunt? Getting back in?"

Sandy looked at Neil with an assuring smile that could definitely deceive anyone, his smile was so assuring that Neil nearly fell for it. Just in a split seconds; the memory came back to him again, without further delay he tapped Sandy on the head.

"Ouch..."

"Don't think those deceiving smile of yours could work on me." Neil smiled.

Sandy burst into a wild laughter, Neil scoffed and shook his head in pity. Both of them went silent for few seconds as they stared at the desk in front of them, Miss Wade just finished explaining the last sentence on the board. She dropped the chalk and turned towards the students, she wasn't smiling this time and worry was easily seen in her eyes. She looked at them for few seconds before lowering her glance towards her desk, the class watched with curiosity.

"I don't know what is going to happen to you kids... Now that you're all going on a short term vacation.." she began. "Enemies may come after you all and there may not be a day you can be free from their attacks. But with what I have seen in all of you, I know that some, if not most of you are capable of saving yourselves."

Silence fell on the class, the aura around the classroom had gone low... Very low.

" But know one thing...." She lifted her head. "Keep growing up in strength and skill, because you must not let your weakness become a defect to your lives. Be strong and promise to come back in one piece next semester."

Murmur....

Miss Wade lifted her hands to hush them...

"I know you guys can take care of yourselves..." She continued. "But I need you to be in touch with each other... I also will be in touch."

She turned towards the board with a chalk in the tips of her fingers, she wrote her cell number on the board. After completing what she was doing, she turned towards the class and smiled.

"I will see you next semester..." She said as she grabbed her books. "Look out for each other... And also...."

Silence...

"Stay in touch...."

There was silence the moment she walked out of the class, the students didn't utter a word as they usually did before. The school bell rang loudly in it usual melodious sound, Miss Wade stayed at the corridor and leaned her shoulders against the wall. She stayed in that position for a while, before continuing her journey. Seeing the other students as they paraded out of their various classes, She walked slowly down the hall reminiscing, holding tight to her books.

Lyn stood up and made way to the board, she halted in front of the board for a while before turning towards her comrades.

"Was is just me or was Miss Wade feeling uneasy today?"

Murmur aroused amongst them.

"She was scared..." Rory spoke out.

Silence.

"She afraid that we are going to be a target to some predators..." Rory brought out his phone.

"So what are you implying?" Glen asked.

"Let's all exchange cell numbers. Like she said. In case of an emergency."

The school yard had been filled up with various expensive cars of different types, students walked out of their various dorms with their luggages. Some in pairs while others walked out alone, Sandy sat at the the wooden stairs that led to his dorm. His arm resting in between his legs with his head bowed, he opened his eyes after few seconds of shutting them and stared at his hands.

Drowning himself in thoughts as his gaze moved from his left arm to the right, he felt a silhouette coming close to him. He diverted his stare towards the shadow to see Neil. He came close and sat at his side, resting his arm on his lap.

He sighed heavily while staring at the passer-by students, before diverting his attention towards Sandy.

"You know... Thinking about where you're gonna stay..." Neil began. "Isn't gonna help with the situation and besides.."

He drew close to Sandy.

"We're already a prey to predators.." He whispered.

"I know that.... But it's just that..." Sandy lifts his head towards the sky. "I don't know...."

"Why not stay with us?" Neil asked. "I've already talked to my dad about it.."

Sandy turned towards Neil.

"And what did he say?"

"You already know the answer to that bro..." Neil smiled.

"Huh.....?"

"Dumb head... He said yes..."

Neil chuckled calmly.

"Why?...." Sandy frowned.

"Huh...?"

"What's the catch...?"

"There's no catch mate... I only asked him for a favour."

"Hmmm...." Sandy sighed.

"And besides... If we want to get stronger, we'll need a place to train."

Sandy turned towards Neil, he was staring at the sky this time with his hands resting by his side. He had a serious look on his face and his eyes.... His eyes was of someone who hungers for power.

"Why do you wanna get strong ehh..." Sandy asked after observing Neil's reaction.

"To protect those close to me.." was the reply. "And to also to be in total control..."
