Here comes the sun, little darling. Here comes the sun and I say..
Your alarm went off even though there wasn't a ray of sunshine, yet. You were tempted to just sleep in instead of having to go with your morning routine. The devil was strong but your will has been stronger for so long, now. You can't succumb to it, not now.
You stood up and went out for the morning run. By the time you arrived back you saw Tae Yoon standing in the lobby with San Jin. They looked too sleepy. If anyone were to go there and annoy them, they'd probably commit a crime. You smiled at their sleepy resting bitch faces. You approached them while being all out of breath.
"Good morning," you said calmly so you don't startle them. They slowly moved their heads to face you and weakly smiled.
"Good morning, Kae." They both said out of sync. They didn't sound like they had enough energy to strike up a conversation.
"I hope you guys have a blessed day!" You said. "Fighting!" You made a fist as you moved away.
When you arrived at the elevator you found Jung Ho coming out with Jeon Seok. They both looked as sleepy as Jin and Tae. Before you could say anything, Jungie took you into a hug. It almost felt like he was using you for support so he can sleep one second longer.
"You're coming with us?" He said all grumpy as he broke the hug.
"I'll come later." You said. You had a meeting with The main company, BIT, and you had to talk to your assistant about the reports and stats of everything you've worked on so far. You had to report everything and be ready for feedback. You were really worried.
"Alright! Call me?" He asked, still sleepy.
"I don't have your phone number." You said. It was weird. You went out on a date. You basically live together and you don't have his number. He took his phone out, gave it to you and you typed in your number. He called you then hung up.
"Alright! Call me when you're done!" He said as he walked away.
You went up to your room. You called Do Hyun.
"Hi, Kaesolin." He said politely. "Have you checked the report I sent you?"
"Yes, I just did." You said while still scanning the report. "The numbers are staggering. I think these past couple of weeks have been more successful than I thought." You said proudly.
"True." He said. "The numbers are 25% more than the peak of Empire's social presence. Even the Lives have shown heavier traffic by new accounts. 50% of the extra views are accounts that haven't been active for months and 25% of the remainder are new accounts." The stats made you feel confident that maybe this was the right choice. You didn't fail!
"Perfect!" You said closing the papers. "Any other updates?" You asked.
"Actually. Yes, you've been nominated for a couple of film awards that will be spaced out in New York, and Greece."
"They'll be held in 5 months and 6 months time respectively." He paused.
"And you've got a call from the MIA headquarters." The moment he mentioned MIA your heart stopped. MIA is one of the leading car manufacturers in Korea and all over the world.
Your hands shook and you could sense this panic attack crawling up your neck and suffocating you. You coughed so hard. You ran to your medication bag and got your inhaler out. Everything was going round and round. Fuck. Why would they call. After all these years. Why would she keep calling?
"Kaesolinssi?" Do Hyun's voice snatched you back into reality. "Are you okay?" He repeated.
"Do hyun!" You shouted. "How many times did I tell you that you must never get me news from her?" You said as you coughed. You used your inhaler again.
No matter how much you try to avoid her she seems to find a way to reach you. You have stopped talking to her even before you left for LA to study. Ever since everything happened three years ago, you've held even more grudges against that woman.
"I am sorry." He said over and over. "It's just that—
"Do Hyun! Stop!" You hysterically said. "Thank you for everything." You hung up. You instantly thought of Ae Ra. Regardless of time difference, you called.
"Ae Ra?" You said in tears.
"Yes, Kae." She said knowing what was going on. Every time she tries to reach you, she calls Ae Ra as well.
"I am not okay, Ae Ra." You said putting your head on the pillow feeling your tears as they roll off you cheek falling onto the pillow.
"I know." She said soothingly.
"She doesn't get sick of coming in and out every once in a while. Like she knows how she affects me and she plays that game like it costs her nothing." You cried harder.
"Do you want me to talk to her?" She asked.
"No, this would just open a door for reconnecting and that's nothing I want ever, Ae Ra. Not after what she did to my family. Not after what she did to me. To my father and to my brother. She'll never get it. Forgiveness is for those who feel regret. She's just—" you interrupted yourself. "Ae Ra, I need to get ready for my meeting."
"Kae. You can't let this burry you back in bed! I need you to call me after! Fuck time difference. You need to stand up on your feet! Don't resort to shutting yourself out. Okay? Go to that meeting, slay it, and freaking call me!" She said and you hung up to cry your eyes out.
Your brain has made a habit for shutting down when anything unfortunate happens. You couldn't afford this now. You can't afford it anytime actually. You quickly got ready for the video meeting and dried your tears. The words of appreciation that came from them passed through you and fell on the floor.
All you were thinking of was that woman's face. They were discussing future projects and you were barely typing them down. You felt like you were with half a brain. The meeting was brief to your relief. After you were done, you called Eun Ae to check on the things you were supposed to check on in your stead. You crashed. You don't remember for how long.
