As soon as I stepped foot at the airport of Salekhard, Yamal Peninsula. I realized that I should not have come here. It is -32°C now. Well, I am in the Arctic lowland region right now. How can I expect a tropical climate here?
I am wearing four layers of winter clothes. I look like a lame character from the children's show Frozen. It was too embarrassing to even walk with these many layers of clothes.
I was so relieved when I saw my chauffeur waiting for me in the terminal. He had a signboard with my fake name 'Smith' on it. He greeted me warmly. " You must be Mr. Smith," he said and shook my hand.
"Yes, now please take me to my hotel room," I said.
" But don't you want to visit a few historical monuments like 'Obdorsk Burg'. Or maybe we could go to the 'Ivan Shemanovsky Museum' of the local lore before we go to the hotel. I bet that you would find them fascinating," he suggested.
