Layton looked at the seven-minute balls floating leisurely some distance away from his fingertips. The balls were silvery white and seemed to be of an illusory nature, almost as though they were both present and absent. They were the biggest gains Layton had procured during this time.
They were refined from the amalgamation of the seven deadly sins that had accumulated in the plane. Because of the lack of an underworld in this nascent plane, when humans died, their souls were crushed by the environment, turning into fragments that would be attracted to newborns. The fragments of these souls would disperse into the plane, often drawn to newborns, creating a cycle of rebirth.
