"Alright, what's the status?"
"Your majesty, the information we got from the scouts we sent; there are about a hundred thousand soldiers, a huge canon that approximately weighs ten tons, weaponry is about a million and they have been camping at the edge of the forest near a river."
"What are the soldiers mostly combined of?"
The general sweated. "Your majesty, about that. They are mostly vampires, werewolves, giants, and a lot of mages."
Scarlett gritted her teeth. "So they have become smart, we don't have that many magical resources. Who's the one leading them?"
"It's the monarch herself."
"A woman?"
"Yes, she had become the empress after banishing the former emperor and empress. Rumor says she's a blood-lusting demoness, she has killed millions of soldiers by herself without getting a single wound. She's also rumored to be the bastard child of the actual emperor who died in an assassination, and her stepfather was just an acting ruler.
"She even killed her fiancee after she found she had been cheating on her. She literally cut off their heads and hung them out on her window as a warning. She then ate their bodies for an entire month. But the banishing of her parents seems too cruel, ya know. They raised her like their own, yet she exiled them."
Scarlett shrugged. "I don't care about the rumors, but do you have some useful information on her?"
"Ah yes! Rumor even says that her dominant side is a witch and her second dominant side is a vampire."
"That's it?"
The general nodded. "Yes, madam. Your majesty may ask something kind of offending?"
"Sure go on."
"What are we going to do with only a thousand soldiers when the opposing army has a cavalry more than us?"
Scarlett smirked. "You'll get it later. Now enjoy yourself, for now, tomorrow is going to be a long day."
"Where would you be, your majesty?"
"I'll be taking a walk."
"Would you be okay by yourself, your majesty?"
She smiled. "I have been trained by the master himself. Don't worry, I'll be fine."
The general bowed and left the tent. Scarlett took her sword and a knife. She walked out of the tent and the guards bowed. She nodded and made her way outside the camp.
She dived into her thoughts about the immortals' empress. From the rumors themselves, she seemed cruel and a little heartless. Banishing her parents were cruel, her father must've been devastated finding out his wife was a mistress of his brother. Yet like a true man, he raised her like her own and didn't divorce his wife.
Eating the fiancee's, and her lover's body was too exasperated. But the fiancee shouldn't have broken the empress's trust at all, she must've loved her fiancee a lot.
Scarlett stopped walking when she saw two sick, ice blue dots staring at her from the dark. A low voice chuckled. "Ah loo, another one swooned over by the rumors."
She pulled out her sword. "Who's there?! Come out and show your face coward!" A tall woman stepped into the moonlight. She cockily smiled. "It's okay hon, no need to panic."
Scarlett was amazed, the woman in front of her was a goddess! A doll-like face that could be called innocent, blonde hair like gold, but her eyes betrayed the appearance. Those eyes were filled with betrayal, death, bloodlust, cruelty, and... loneliness?
"Who are you?"
The woman smirked. "You must've heard about me. I'm a blood-lusting demoness."
Scarlett gasped in realization. "You're the empress!"
The woman sarcastically commented, "Mortals have at last started educated themselves, I see."
"What do you want?!"
"Nothing sweety, I came here to warn you. You better turn your mortal ass back to your empire if you want to live. Your army is no match to mine."
"Are you telling me to surrender?!"
"No sweety, mortals are too fragile to be kept alive, yet they think they're so capable of doing great things," she smirked and threw a rock at the ground. "Such arrogance!"
Scarlett took a step forward and mocked the immortal empress. "Aren't you being arrogant yourself?"
The empress bent down to Scarlett's eye level. "No, I'm not. I'm just making sure no more lives die in my army's hands and they want to have a day off without a mortal ruining it."
Scarlett narrowed her eyes, "you hate mortals, don't you?"
"You have at last found the missing puzzle, I hate the existence of mortals itself. And I would do anything to remove their ugly scents of earth."
"Then why aren't you killing me?"
She whispered into Scarlett's ear. "That's the problem dear, I find you highly amusing. Like you would be entertaining somewhere private."
She blushed and pushed the empress away. "You rouge!" The immortal smirked at her reaction and shrugged. "Meh, I just came here to warn you. Since you want to go along with your plan, I won't be a bother then."
And she vanished as if she wasn't there at all. Scarlett stood there gaping like a fish. What was that?
"Your majesty? Where are you?"
She blinked and shook her head. "Ah? What? Yes, I'm here!"
The soldier found her and bowed. "Your majesty, we were so worried. We thought we lost you in the dark forest."
She waved her hand. "Ah, it's okay. You don't need to worry about me, I'm not a kid anymore. So let's go back to camp?"
"Yes, after you, your majesty."
While making their way back to camp, Scarlett's mind went back to the conversation with the immortal empress. The enemy had left a mysterious impression on Scarlett. She was looking forward to meeting the immortal empress on the battlefields.
