Chapter 11 - WHY THE COLD SHOULDER?

Did I do something wrong? Last time I checked I was the victim here. I'm the one who got kidnapped and is being held against my will. If it's anybody who should be giving the silent treatment then it should be me.

It's been three months now since I've been Lucio's property. I barely see him but whenever I do he's either coming in late with a woman in his arms or leaving early without as much as a good morning. He barely looks at me. It's as if I'm not even there.

I'm in the library reading another romance novel. It's about interracial love and I'm a sucker for these kind of romances. I'm so indulge in this book that I didn't even hear when the door opened. I look up for a brief second to see Lucio staring at me. I'm stunned. How long has he been standing there? I'm just staring back not knowing what else to do.

"I'm sorry, I should've asked your permission before using your books…" I started off saying until Lucio stopped my mumblings.

"It is fine" Lucio said in that accent that can easily sweep a girl off her feet. Where the heck did that come from, I thought to myself, "no one uses this library, it's more of an attraction to my visitors. You can use this space whenever you want. In fact, you don't have to ask permission to use anything in my home" he continued.

"Thank you, you're very kind", I said in my Anastacia Steele voice. Lucio nodded his head and was about to leave.

"Can I ask you something" I stopped him before he turned the door knob to exit the room. He turns around to give me his full attention. "Did I do something wrong? You were absent for so long and whenever you're here I would try to talk to you and you would barely respond. Why the cold shoulder?" I'm a straight forward person so whenever something's bothering me I always try to get to the bottom of it. I get that from my father which is why I wanted to become a lawyer just like him.

"I apologize, I guess I was too embarrassed to face you after what I had done".

"All you did was touch my hair…" I tried to defend his embarrassment because honestly it isn't a big deal.

"I promised myself that I would not touch you Mya. I wasn't supposed to be in your room. I wanted to check up on you and when I saw that you were fast asleep I just couldn't resist. It is my job to protect you until I can let you go".

Wait what…

"You plan on letting me go?" oh my gosh, this is the best news I've ever had.

"Mya I didn't plan for you to be here in the first place. I had no idea what I was about to walk into upon entering that shipping dock but when I saw that lost gaze in your eyes and the way the other men was drooling over you I felt like I needed to protect you from that".

All this time I thought of Lucio as my abductor when in fact it is the opposite. He had nothing to do with my kidnapping. He actually saved my life. What would my life be now if those other men had bought me? From here on out my outlook on Lucio changed drastically.

"I don't know what to say," my eyes is clouded with tears and I try to wipe them away before they fall, "it's just that I blamed you all this time when what I should be doing is thanking you, I thought I was never going to see my parents again".

Lucio nodded and left the room, closing the door behind him. I feel so relieved to know that I will be going home someday. I haven't been this happy in a while. I couldn't go back to reading my novel so I decided to call it a night and head up to my room.

As I got to the staircase I could hear the front door opening. I don't know what to do in this situation so I continued on my way upstairs to my room. When I got to my room I heard Lucio exit his. Maybe it's one of his women, I thought to myself. I don't know why I'm feeling a bit jealous because this one has a key to his house. I'm not supposed to want Lucio but he makes it really hard. Especially after tonight.
