Chapter 13 - Not Talking

"What do you mean he won't talk?" Paul was furious. They found the man exactly where Rose said they would find him. They followed her instructions to the letter, finding the jerry-rigged dialysis machine, a computer with the shipment records of the blood collected, needles, collection bags and a list of names of women, including the six dead, that shared the same blood type. Circumstantial. All of it. The place was clean. No fingerprints, DNA, nothing. Without some physical evidence or a confession, this guy was going to walk. "Has he said anything? Anything at all?"

"Just that he wants to see the demon." Brian explained. "Over and over and over again." They were watching him through the two way mirror glass that separated them from the interview room. "Here, listen for yourself." He reached over switched on the speaker.

"We're just trying to help you out here, Mr. Hannigan." Agent Nichols explained through his impatiently clenched teeth. "We know you're not the mastermind. You tell who he is and we can work a deal for you."

"The demon," the man seethed. "I will speak to no one but the demon." He kept his eyes forward without really looking at his interrogator. His soft brown eyes frozen in place behind thin wire framed glasses. Jet black hair lazily placed over the left eye. Jaws set, hands clenched to the table.

"And who is this demon? How will I get in touch with him?"

"The demon," he repeated. "I will speak to no one but the demon. The witch who told you about me."

Brian flipped the sound off. "See?"

Paul's jaw dropped. He drew a deep breath, stuffing his cigar back in his teeth. "I guess we better get her in here then."

"Who, sir?"

"Who else, Brian? Send Aden to get Rose."
