"That if he chooses this will be his last life and the last time your souls will meet on this plane." My heart constricted. Why? I knew why I just couldn't stop the pain that grabbed and bit at my heart.
"We still need to tell him, all the bits that have transpired. He will understand. He knows how close you are with Our Mother." Tala gave me a sense of feeling. An anticipation for what was ahead in this life. "We have a great adventure ahead of us, there will be many firsts. Don't dwell on the current. Things can change in the blink of an eye." She hummed sending a warmth through me that was very comforting.
I got out of bed, got my jeans on just as I heard Red stir. "Good morning sweet cheeks," I smiled.
A low rumble of laughter emerged from Red, "Did you seriously just call me sweet cheeks?" A smile spread ear to ear.
"I did, I have some things I need to chat with you. Let me get some coffee brewing and some heat going in the stove." I was a bit more serious then I needed to be I think.
"Okayyy," I seen him raise a brow, curious to see where this would lead.
I walked out to the Kitchen/living space. grabbing some branches I started the cast iron stove. Gathering the bits for coffee, I went back to the stove to get it going. Our tiny home, still under construction. One more room needed to be added. But, the funds and process had slowed up with the onset of skirmishes that popped up in most major cities. As they were filtering out to more rural areas it was making it harder to get our last mini project and our biggest effort done.
I heard his boots walking down the hall. Grabbing his favorite mug I filled it with hot coffee and three ice cubes. Filling mine with a dash of cream I handed him his cup. "Would you rather in here our on the back porch?"
He thought an moment and then decided on the back porch. Silently he choose, by opening the back door without a word. Chief followed out, and I closed up the door.
"So?" He asked as he settled in his chair.
"Tala?" I asked in my head.
"He is magnificent," she cooed..
"Seriously, yes but we need to tell him." I growled.
"Oh right. Here let me.." Just as she said that I felt a shiver, something that tickled even the bones.
"What the?!" Red just out of his seat.
I glanced at my reflection in the sliding glass door. My eyes glowed a brilliant blueish hue. "Let me start at the begining," I heard myself say. "The dire wolves I seen, one was red (pointing to the one in the back of his truck) and the other an earthy brown one named Lada. Lada helped me fight both skinwalkers and the red one. Gave me guidence in those events." I paused to see him watching me intently over the brim of his coffee. "She left a few minutes before you would kill the red one. Last night I dreamed of the Moon Goddess. She activated a portion of my DNA I did not know existed. Said that with what is happening in our world that I had a mission to do. She did not say what said mission was. Only that this time they had given me something with bite." I stopped to see what he had to say about it.
"So the other bits, seeing the future and talking to animals, are they still there?" Still watching me from behind his cup.
"Yes all still there. including this new bit. I have a wolf named Tala in my head who is helping me with this new "talent"," I used air quotes to add to even my own newest bit. "I am told it will be adventure of a lot if firsts." I shrugged and sipped the coffee creating a momentary bliss moment.
I watched him sit and let his mind wrap around the bits of information I offered. Til he asked "So will you change into one of those dire wolf things?"
Tala answered his question with a resounding "yes!" So I added a voiced one to his question "Yes I believe so."
