"Come cub, we go to look for her together." Lada Turned from the nasty thing she had left, to head towards the darkened door.
I walked next to this massive wolf. She gave off a motherly aura minus the bit of yuck I had just seen. "Mackie?" I hollered into the low lighted room.
We both heard a rustle of movement and then a very very weak "Lia?"
"I am coming Mackie." Walking forward into the dim light, I could smell blood. I knew she was wounded, but it seems I had a sudden urgency to get to her and leave. "I am here." I could feel her and knew she was just infront of me.
"My leg, and there is a deep wound on my chest." Her voice weaker now then when I hollered inside to see if she was there.
A blue orb appeared above my head, I glanced back at Lada, if a wolf could shrug it sure looked like she had. The light let me see the horrible marks the red wolf had left. If I could have shot him again I would have. Several times... "Let me get your leg splited and then I can figure out a way to move you." I found some sticks along the edge of the plaza. I watched Lada take some hide from the dead Skinwalker. Using my knife I made strips of the hide. Laying the sticks along side and placing the strips underneath her leg. "I looked back at her to say "I need to align the bones. I am sorry this is gonna hurt." I didn't wait I just did it. That way it was over fast and done. Tieing the leather together I made sure to keep it tight.
I heard the chirp of a hound coming from the front of the ruins. "Whoop!" Another hound chirp came as he got closer. "Whoop!" I hollered again.
Chief came in ready to fight. Hair raised and teeth out, until he seen no threat. Skidding to a stop infront of me. " I smelled blood." He gave me a sheepish look.
"I understand." Looking to Mackie "Can you go bring the rescue party to me?"
"Of course," Chief turned right around and headed back out the entrance this time in full bay. If anyone was around, they would hear it.
Lada got me a larger piece of the cloaknfrom the fake Skinwalker. I eased Mackie on it as best as I could and drug her out into the plaza light. There I turned my attention to her horse. The mare was down, yet had not told me why.
Getting closer to her I could see and smell her blood. "Where are you hurt?" I asked kneeling down next to her.
"The muscle in my hindend is what brought me down. The red wolf, got me there." She was growing weak too.
I made a low whistel, that went high then low once more. I heard the clippity clop, of Warriors hooves coming. He had my medical kit, and other bits I could use. I stood up and met him. "Thank you," I patted him. grabbing the kit and the blanket. I walked to Mackie. There I sat her up against the side of a plaza wall. wrapping her in the blanket I brought. I placed a large amount of padded gauze to her chest covered in antibiotic and goo to hold off any more bleeding. "I am going to tend to your mare. Chief is going to bring the rest of the rescue team shortly." I touched the side of her face. "You are very very brave."
I seen that Warrior had walked near the mare. Talking to her reassuring her that all would be well. "Do you mind if I tend to the wound?" I looked at the mare.
" Go ahead. I am sure her male will put me out of this once he gets here." The paint sighed, believing the end was near.
Warrior chuckled, "My young lady, I don't think you know the woman tending you very well. They will not end your life with my mistress here."
"I will not let them end you, if I have to drive the tractor and horse trailer out here to get you myself." I said it with enough conviction the mare noticed. I went to work on her next cleaning and stopping the main area that was bleeding. patching it, so that an actual vet could do the rest.
Lada spoke then, "I must be off. Your hound is coming with the rest."
I nodded, "Thank you" but she was gone already.
