Chapter 3 - Chapter two

- Thank you mom. See you later.

"I'll be here when you leave school."

I greeted her and got out of the car, making salom among the cars in the parking lot. Although it was a high school with students, and mostly minors, the parking lot is full of cars, some were luxurious, others less expensive. And dozens of guys.

I can say that I am jealous, because for me to have my own car is currently an unrealizable dream and that disappoints me to the roots of my soul. If my dad had been here he would definitely have bought me a car ... but ... actually no, that's how it was given and it doesn't make sense to bother with this anymore, because I won't change anything , I can't change the course of my life ...

- Hey Wayne!

- Hi Tyler.

- So you didn't drop out of school.

- Unfortunately for you, no.

He approached me and hugged me. Tyler Redd was Simon's brother, the mayor's other son. In fact, we get along a bit better, because in previous years I was always in their house at Simon's.

And speaking of which, I'm very grateful to Simon for being the first boy who didn't fall in love with me, we've only been friends forever, or rather seventh grade. And so is Arizona.

I continued on my way to the entrance of the high school and looked for my friends and acquaintances.

When I saw Arizona, I had stomach cramps and I didn't understand why. I was scared that she didn't want us to be friends anymore, because of what I chose to do. But as an ultra-mega-brave being that I am, I took my heart in my teeth and approached her. I don't let a second separate us. I don't want to ignore her anymore, thinking this is best for me.

Arizona was talking to Simon, and I'm still amazed at the splendor he can have. The blonde hair is arranged in a perfect way, the natural make-up and the white dress highlight her long, tanned legs.

Arizona is a beautiful woman, and everyone knows her. I've said that a thousand times. It's just that it's a bit airy, and I think that's because she's been held in her hands since birth, with all her wishes fulfilled. His father worked in the town hall and his mother is the best-known lawyer in the White Chapel. But when Arizona was fourteen, her parents decided to divorce, and later found out that her father had an affair with his secretary. But that didn't change Arizona at all.

When I reached her, she looked at me and was as shocked as Simon was yesterday.

My heart started beating at a fast pace and I was waiting for her to make any movement.

But she had been petrified for a long time.

But I could hear Simon's giggles.

- Olivia....

Suddenly she broke out and hugged me like a bear and stared at my chest for a long time.

And I enjoyed her presence, smelling that typical scent of hers, the special scent of Arizona.

As he walked away from me, I could see tears forming in the corners of my eyes.

- No Please! Don't do this because I'm going to start too.

I wiped away her tears and suddenly Simon pulled us both in his arms and at this moment it was as if I had received a slap, waking up to reality. They were right, I had to send them at least one message a month, or even come to town to meet. They really care about me, and being selfish, I didn't put myself in their situation.

- Are you okay Olivia? I can't believe I have you in front of my eyes. I thought you left us without saying goodbye.

- I'm fine Arizona, believe me. I missed you so much.

"And you ... I thought you moved completely out of town and you're not coming back."

- But I'm here.

"And I'm grateful for that."

- Congratulations Miss White Chapel. You fully deserved this title, you were splendid, without gifts and maybe.

- Thank you my dear. I didn't know you were at the parade.

Simon joked with her, but Arizona hadn't let herself be humiliated and started arguing with him, as usual. There is not a single time when the three of us stay together and the two of them don't quarrel like two small children.

- May this year be an unforgettable one.

- You're right Simon.

As soon as the opening ceremony of the year was over, we headed to our classes.

And as the benches were placed one by one, the three of us arranged themselves in a horizontal line, with me between the two of us.

The rest of the day went on in the usual way, with other acquaintances and colleagues asking me if I was okay. I've heard this question too many times today, it made up for the lack of questions in the last three months.

And the saddest thing is that no one really cares, I do it just for the sake of conversation, or out of politeness.

- During these two days, the carnival of the city organized by the high school will take place. And you know, we need student organizers ...

Arizona said, and I could tell where it was going. He wanted me to get involved in organizing the carnival, which takes place annually.

My idea doesn't smile at all, I would have preferred to stay at home, because I have too many memories with my father related to the carnival ... painful.

"Please ..." Simon had asked me, knowing I knew where Arizona wanted to go with this

"I honestly don't know ... I don't want it at all."

- Please Olivia, last year you were looking forward to organizing the carnival, you had so many ideas ...

- Last year was something different ...

- Yes, sorry..

I could feel Simon's embarrassment, and let his gaze fall to the ground.

I sighed deeply.

I promised myself that I would change, that I would no longer be that typical teenager who suffers and is viewed only with pity. I have to fill my life, I can't let this last year of high school pass me by.

- Okay Simon, I'll be there to help you. I say, lowering my guard

- Perfect. See you at eighteen.

- See you soon.

"I'm glad you're back." Arizona told me, then hugged me again

- And I.

They had left and I stayed in the parking lot, waiting for my mother to come after me.

Although he told me he would be here when the classes ended, he was still not here. He broke his promise ...

it's been almost twenty minutes since I finished school today, which was extremely boring.

Almost all the teachers were new, very few are known. In fact, the former mayor, Mr. Benjamin, became the city's history teacher. I mean, we have a special time for something like that, the history of the city. How it was formed, who the founders were, the wars it took part in and other interesting things.

Suddenly I startle when I feel my phone vibrating in my pants pocket. The one who called me was my mother.

- Olivia, I can't get you out of school. There is a problem and I have to solve it.

"Exactly from day one, mother?"

- Yes. Apparently there was an attack by an animal, it ended with a dead man. But he is very dubious, he was not injured, he only had two fang marks around his neck. We sent the body for examination to find out the exact source of death.

Suddenly I felt in danger, I mean no, not me. But my mother. I didn't want to take part in such events that could end badly for her. I want to know her safe and sound. Because she's the only one left in my family.

I have other living relatives, but they don't compare to a mother or a father.

If my mother left me too ... I would collapse drastically, I would be down to earth. I'm not ready for that.

I don't even want to think about it.

- Go home and stay there until we can kill the animal ...

- But today and tomorrow the carnival organized by us takes place. I'm part of the team too.

- I will make sure you have maximum security. And be careful, too.

- I promise.

And so I started on the road, towards the house, on foot.

I wasn't quite far from school, only the road took about forty minutes.

White Chapel was a wonderful looking city, there were huge bushes of flowers spread all over the sidewalk.

It was a small but beautiful town.

But I'm still waiting to get out of here and start a new life. In short, I try to challenge the impossible, that is, to flee from the past.
