I punched and kicked, internally rolling my eyes at the weak man in front of me. Groans were heard as I delivered my punches. My knuckles were covered in blood, but they weren't mine. Soon, I dominated the fight, him getting weaker as I only grow stronger. I delivered a sharp punch to his nose and a delicious crack filled my ears. As his hands went up to his nose, I grabbed his head and brought it down to my rising knee. He staggered backwards, clearly in pain.
I spit to the side, a bit of blood mixing with my saliva. I glared daggers at my opponent. A broken nose, a few cracked ribs, and possibly a small concussion. I was going easy on him. I clenched my fists at my sides. I chuckled darkly, seeing him groan in pain. How pathetic.
"I told you not to try me, human." I sneered. I breathed heavily as I walked up to his weak figure. He looked up at me with terror in his eyes which made me smirk. I crouched down and grabbed his hair and pulled it up to make him look at me. He wasn't a night creature.
My eyes turned completely gold as my canines grew. Sharp claws erupted from my fingers and I growled. The man in front of me grew pale. He realized what I was and what his fate was. Or at least, what he thought I was.
"M-Mons-" his words were cut short as he started to gurgle. My fingers digging deep into his skin as my claws entered his neck, effectively killing him. The light left his eyes and I threw him to the side.
My eyes turned back to its normal color and the beast inside me subsided, letting me go back to being human. I looked at the dead man, bleeding on the ground. I shook my head slightly and walked away. Some people just don't know when to quit. He was too arrogant for a human, boasting his so-called skills in front of me like that.
I headed for the forest, knowing that its tall trees and thick bushes would hide me away from curious human eyes. The familiar scent of the forest welcomed me as I neared the edge the border that separates the city and the forest. The beast inside me stirred, wanting to come out and go for a run.
I shifted into my beast, letting him out. Black fur erupted all over my body, my eyes turning gold. As soon as his hind paws touched the ground, he dropped on all fours and ran faster than a bullet. His chest vibrated as he growled. He loved the feeling of the forest floor under his paws, the leaves and twigs cracking when he stepped on them. He loved the feeling of the wind on his fur. He loved the freedom. I have to agree with him. It's the best feeling ever.
The trees and bushes grew thicker and the trail made by humans were gone. No humans would dare to come further into the woods. They fear of what hides in the dark.
There was a local legend telling the story of a dark and evil monster who lurked in the dark shadows of the woods, killing any humans in sight. They say that the monster eats humans for breakfast, lunch , and supper. I smirked at the foolish tales. I wasn't scared of the dark monster.
I was the dark monster.
My beast let out a proud howl. He loved being feared. He loved being in control. He never backed down from a challenge. My beast was a true leader all in all. It was why he was so hard to control the first time I shifted.
We have to go home. I said to my beast. He let out a grumble of protest. I rolled my eyes at him.
I want to run. His deep voice said back to me. He couldn't speak but he had a voice. A voice inside my head. He's able to communicate with me and tell me what he feels, it was a connection that we have that connects the human world to the wolf world.
We have to go home. I said sternly. He growled lowly but followed anyways. He took a sharp turn and ran faster. A few minutes passed, minutes that felt like seconds, and suddenly the air felt different.
A shiver erupted through my beast's body, my beast howling into the night sky, letting everyone know that we've arrived. The town came into view as we slowed down to a walk, the people bowing down at the beast when we passed. My beast held his head up high like the alpha king he was.
A big castle stood proudly at the edge of the town. My beast letting go of his control and letting me shift back. The satisfying sound of bones breaking and shifting filled my ears as I shifted. My claws and fangs shrinking, and my paws turning back into limbs. My clothes were crumpled, but I didn't mind that.
Pushing the door open, I walked inside. Dim lights decorated the hallways, along with pieces of art and tapesry. The castle was old and belonged to my family since the beginning of dawn.
"Alpha!" A voice called down to me, followed by hurried footsteps.
"Yes, Leo?" My voice echoed through the room. Leonardo was my beta and my trusted friend. He was almost like a brother to me.
"Where have you been? You were gone for three days!" Leo asked as we walked down the hall, heading for the kitchen. I had worked up quite an appetite after the small fight and the run.
I opened the cupboard and found some plain bread and chocolate spread. Leo stood behind me, leaning against the counter as he watched me wash my bloody hands and make my late night snack.
"I had business to deal with." I simply answered. Then eating my chocolate sandwich.
"Alone?"
"Yes, alone. I didn't need back up."
"What was the business?"
"Confidential Alpha business." I mentally rolled my eyes at his curiosity.
Catching the hint, Leo stopped asking questions. Excusing himself, he walked away to his room, leaving me alone in the kitchen. I looked outside of the kitchen window at the brilliant moon that shined brightly in the sky. I prayed to the Moon Goddess to answer my question, but I knew it was hopeless.
Walking through the halls, I let my feet lead me to my room. I walked up the stairs and pushed the big double doors that led into my room. My bedroom was the biggest in the castle, no doubt because of who I was and what I was.
I took off my shirt and threw it into the laundry basket, my jeans following. After brushing my teeth and washing up, I collapsed on my bed. Today had been a long day.
I couldn't help but feel as if something was missing. My heart ached as if it was missing something. I closed my and try to ignore the feeling. I was probably too tired. Soon, I fell into a restless sleep filled with nightmares and monsters of my own.
