Chereads / THE LAST SHE WOLF / Chapter 4 - Safety

Chapter 4 - Safety

I woke to a room with sky blue walls, cloud white curtains, and in a king size bed I don't recall crawling into. My heart raced in my chest and I sat up with a jolt with the intention to run.

Then a hand touched mine and I looked over to see Seth smiling at me, "you're safe Jess. We would never allow harm to come to our queen." I felt the fear seap out of me as if Seth had taken it away from me with his touch. "Let me hold you, Jess. My wolf longs to soothe you," Seth pulled me into his arms and for the first time since my mothers death I felt safe.

I felt Seth run his fingers thru my hair, over my exposed neck, and his lips on my shoulder. Feelings of peace washed over me, and in moments I was fast asleep curled against Seth.

When I awoke again, I felt more at peace despite the lack of Seth. On the bed next to me I found a note and a small stack of cloths.

I was due for patrols. These should fit. Come get to know the pack. Pack house is open just for you.

I smiled at the simplicity and thought that went into this small moment. Grabbing the cloths I realized Seth had no clue what a girl needed to be presentable. The stack of cloths simply had a gray dress and socks. No shoes, underwear, or even a bra. I laughed to myself slipping into the gray dress and was pleasantly surprised it fit perfectly falling just above my knees.

Cloths, as much as provided, on I began the walk to the pack house just next to the cabin. It was a cool day, Minnesota was known for them this time of year, and I felt it to my core despite the building heat in my core. By the time I made it to the door I was shaking and covered in goose bumps.

I hesitated a moment with my hand on the know, giving me just enough time to muster the courage to trust, and headed in to meet the pack.
