Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - First Day, Are You New?

I stood in front of the new school that welcomed me. It had its label on the front of the school, one that no one could miss.

Hope's Peak Academy.

Yeah, I've done my research. The killing games happened at Hope's Peak. I'm not stupid. But they say it's run by new people, and no killing games have happened in years. So, I think I'm good.

They only accepted the best of something, and I knew what mine was. I'm known as the Ultimate Matchmaker. AKA I'm one of those crazy shipping people. Usually my ships actually happen, resulting in people saying I can predict the future. I just call it intuition.

I put my earbuds in, immediately blasting my fav band at the time, Mindful Sold Inquisitive, and started my way into the school. Since it was a high school of sorts, they wouldn't mind my music, right?

I entered and saw a huge hallway, equipped with famous paintings and cute plants with painted glass vases, even a chandelier. I started to walk around before I started getting dizzy, the world spinning around me. Eventually, I blacked out, the last thing I felt being my head hit the cold hard floor.

* * *

I woke up in a daze, my head in pain. Most likely from hitting the floor so hard. I sat up, opening my eyes slowly for me to look around.

The room I was in seemed to be a hotel room, which had rose petals everywhere, and the bed seemed to have squeaking resistance. The room also had LED lights lining the ceiling, emanating a red light. As I scanned the room more, I came to a conclusion that I didn't like.

I was in a Love Hotel.

I quickly got up and got off the bed. God knows what's happened in that bed..

I saw windows, or what were supposed to be windows. They were covered with metal plated with large bolts, also metal. There was a TV, a security camera, and an envelope with my name on it.

I opened it and read it.

Kazzy Kurisu,

Welcome to Hope's Peak Hotel! Please come to the lobby.

We await you.

Headmaster M.

I put the letter down and quickly opened my door, only to see a boy my age about to knock on it. He was wearing a hoodie and shorts, both halved with black and white to match his hair.

On his left side, my right, he had an eye patch over his eye which was black with a weird looking red eye on it. Half of his mouth, also on the right, was a scar that formed his mouth into a permanent smile. He looked… Almost like a teddy bear.

He smiled. "Puhuhu, you're awake! Come, come! We're all waiting on you, Miss Protagonist~" He then skipped away.

I followed him to what seemed to be the lobby, unaware of the other 15 people there, excluding me and the boy. As I walked in, I took in the scene. It was a normal lobby, with a stage-like desk in the front. It was oddly big, as if they knew there'd be a lot of people there.

The people I saw there were very different from each other in skin tone, clothing style, and even eye color. It was like looking at a Skitters bag.

All of a sudden, a loud noise sounded through the lobby. It was the boy I had met, who was standing on the desk, speaking. "Good morning, everyone! Some of you may recognize each other, however we have a newcomer!" I flinched as he glanced at me.

"In case you forgot, my name is Monokuma! I look different because my helper designed me differently this time! Anyway, I decided to let someone new spice up this surviving cast! As some of you may remember vividly.. You died! But here's your second chance at life! And for those of you who lived and are here… Good luck! You'll need it. Why? Well, this is a new warm welcome to your next killing game! Puhuhu~!" And with that oddly cheerful laugh, he disappeared.

I looked around at everyone to see almost everyone's faces in shock, matching mine. There were 3 who weren't shocked, it seemed. They seemed odd, like they were happy this was happening.

A shriek interrupted my thoughts. I looked over to see it came from a girl with blue hair in a school girl outfit. That shriek caused a series of scared screams and desperate yells. I ran up to the front and jumped on the desk. This was my best and only shot to calm everyone down.

"Everyone, calm DOWN!!" I screamed. It worked at least. "I'm sorry for screaming, but we can NOT freak out! In a situation like this, we need to keep calm, though some of you are doing that well… Okay! Group up with people you know. We can start intros that way."
