His words drew both Lenny's and the city lord's attention as they turned to face him with eyes shrouding expectancy ,as well as, scepticism. One that was fully expected. After all, he wasn't some primordial god that reigns over life and death...
"How do you plan on helping?" The city lord asked, not really expecting a viable answer. Lenny was also confused as to what the main character could possibly do to mend this situation.
Fringing a face lost in thought, the main character paused for a second or two before saying, "Its better to show you instead, but first we'll need to go someplace where we can't be seen, it should also be spacious enough. Do you guys have any place in mind?"
The city lord wanted to cuss the main character out for joking about stuff like this but for some unexplainable reason, he seemed to believe him. 'If that's all he needs to fix this problem then I'll be more than happy to oblige...' Thinking of places that satisfied the requirements, the city lord combed through his memory, before finally finding a suitable place.
"Come with me..." he said, leading both the main character and Lenny out of the meeting room and into the halls of the grand mansion. After walking for a few minutes, taking different twists and turns, the city lord stopped on one of the many halls before turning to the wall that was decorated with different paintings. He seemed to be looking for something as his eyes scanned through the them before landing on the biggest one.
The painting was of a masculine, red haired man, in his early thirties, with a firm and sturdy figure, clothed in a suit and tie, much reminiscent of the ones worn during the mortal Era. His visage oozed confidence as his red eyes seemed to peer through darkness itself. His dignified and strong demeanour was further reinforced by the cane he held in his left hand, giving him a classic overall look. Seeing the painting, the city lord couldn't help but feel a hint of pride.
'This guy looks a lot like the city lord... is he an ancestor of his or something?'
That seemed to be the case but was further solidified when he read the gold plated name tag of the painting, 'Adam Price' It said, clearly indicating he was part of the Price lineage. The tag was soon hidden behind the city lord who continued to look for something along the edges of the paintings frame.
Coming to a stop, his eyes focused upon an intricate design. Observing the design with the keenest eyes, he raised his left hand revealing a golden, patterned ring worn around his Index finger before pressing it into the design found on the painting's frame.
As if it was a key to a lock, the ring fitted perfectly into the design making it, and the entire frame, glow with mystical blue runes. Pulling back his hand, the city lord touched the painting's surface, which now allowed objects to pass through it. That act seemed to bring joy to him as with a smile he turned towards his two companions before saying,
"Follow me inside."
He then took a step forward, stepping through and disappearing behind the reality of the painting. Looking at each other in amazement, Lenny nodded his head before he too took a step forward, stepping into the painting and disappearing from sight.
Finally left alone, the main character let out a sigh, trying his best to suppress his wonder and curiosity. Shacking his head of his emotions, he firmly stepped forward, his body hastily disappearing into the painting. +Having served their purpose, the runes slowly disappeared, but not before a small shadow could sneak it's way inside...+
. . .
[Reader]: Y'all already know what's about to go down.
. . .
Beyond the painting were narrow walls that were joined together with a stone staircase that led down to a thick, steel vault door. Mind you, that description was accurate but conveniently left out the fact that it took them at least three hours to get there. Why, you ask? Well it was because of the fact that it was basically like a maze down there
There were many other staircases that strayed from the original path, making it difficult to stick to your choice. Thankfully, they had the city lord as their guide or else they would have gotten lost or simply died from one of the many booby-traps set in that maze.
Finally arriving in front of the vault, the city lord placed his hand on the door causing blue grinded lines to appear around his hand with another blue line going up and down, scanning his prints.
Once his prints were registered and confirmed, the wheel on the vault door automatically spun counter-clockwise before stopping with a loud "KA" sound. Once that was done, the city lord allocated some power to his arm and pushed the door open, revealing a large white room. The room was quite spacious and brightly lit, making the trio out to be oddities.
Looking up, the main character barely managed to see the top, the difficulty owing to the color, lighting, and sheer size of the room. "What is this place?" he asked in bewilderment.
"This is a multi-layered room fashioned to be a bunker in case of an unavoidable threat. It is simultaneously a training space, a food storage, a utility room, sleeping quarters, and many more..."
Lenny's face expressed shock as he heard the word "multi-layered". Although it seemed like noting as it was fiction, take a moment to think of it deeply. Layering a space with another space was close to impossible with the current level of technological advancements.
Now imaging how difficult that would be when layering a space more than once. Its just mind boggling to think about. Although humanity was able to terraform planets, and conquer the cosmos, layering space was something only heard of in myths... So what was the city lord saying?
"How can that be possible when that type of technology doesn't exist?" Lenny asked, genuinely wanting an answer.
The city lord smiled hearing that question, unknowingly showing pride as he said, "You see, the first ever Price family noble, the first city lord, acquired a treasure from a secret place. This treasure turned out to be a room capable of layering the space it existed in. This is that room!! Its said that it has something to do with frequencies and vibrations but not a lot is known of how it actually works..."
Lenny was still very much in shock as this discovery was one that was sure to change the many worlds. Its applications were endless. This technology would single handedly solve any and all housing crisis. Imagine a one room house, that had been layered with all the necessary rooms found in a standard house.
A living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, a garden, a pool, a game room, a gym... and all of them existed inside of a single room, just each at a different frequency. That was totally mind blowing. How the fuck does that even make sense??
The city lord, turning his attention towards the main character, asked with a grin, "Is this suitable?"
"This is more than enough!", said the main character before biting his finger and allowing blood to flow out... 'Lets get started shall we.'
