Chapter 93 - Laughable

In a dimly lit room, the remnants of an attack could be seen. Bodies laid in rest on the floor accumulating dust. Some time later, three distinct, heavy footsteps were heard, most likely belonging to men, with the following dialogue taking place between their owners.

"What the fuck happened here?! Was it attacked by the city lord and his goonies???"

"Who knows we just have to go find the boss he'll tell us what happened..."

"What if the boss is... Dead?"

"Shut your mouth you dumbass, the boss isn't any weaker than the city lord so he wouldn't due to him...?"

That last voice seemed to be that of reason as it managed to calm down the other two who had allowed their imaginations to run wild.

"Yea, yea, you're right. There's no way the boss would lose...", said one of the doubting voices, trying his best to reassure himself.

As they walked further in, they saw empty grenades, ones that were exactly like the mania gas bombs used earlier that day to wreak such havoc.

'What the fuck happened here?!'

Following their memories, they ended up at the door that led to the boss's office. The three stood rooted before the door, none daring to make a move. They looked at each other with imploring eyes, signalling each other to open the door. But non of them did. Non of them had the strength of will to stand in front of their boss, he was too unsettling! His piercing purple eyes were unnerving!

Finally having had enough, the guy in the middle turned to the guy on his right saying, "You're number one aren't you? Start acting like it! You're the leader so you must be responsible for contacting the boss!!"

The other guy seemed to like that argument as he added, "Yea, you're the leader so this is your responsibility!!" It was as though he had made up his mind of not opening the door himself.

Number one, not seeing any other way to proceed, relented and mustered up his courage before knocking on the door.

*KNOCK*KNOCK*KNOCK*

"Come in.", a familiar voice sounded from the inside, catching the three off guard. In united confusion, number three opened the door, revealing a pale woman, with a skinny frame and black hair that complimented her dark clothing. Looking at her, the three let out confused yet relieved sighs, before number one asked, "Senior, we have come to report to the boss of our mission. Where is he?"

But instead of answering his question, the woman calmly reprimanded him by saying, "You know the rules, there is no use of honorific in out organisation. We are all equal, we are all connected. That is why we go by numbers. You are one, he is two, and the other is three... Similarly, I am number two, nothing more, nothing less. So you should do right by addressing me by my assigned number..."

Number one was taken aback by her words, they were too powerful. For one who has lived a dog's life, only being required to take orders with a bowed head and a bent back, being seen as an equal was a breath of fresh air

Scratching the back of his head, he said, "Apologies, I've been used to conventional life for as long as I can remember...Anyways, can you direct me to where the boss is? We need to report to him the results of our mission?"

Taking a breath, the lady said, "He's not here but you can tell me what happened, I'll pass on the message... And also, don't refer to him as the boss, he's number one."

Number one thanked the woman for her kindness and willingness to help and correct his mistakes, before recounting what had happened. By the time he had finished they could see a visible frown on the woman's face, "What a tragedy.", she said, visibly looking uncomfortable. Looking at number one she asked, "Is that all?"

"That's all... "

"I'll pass on the message, until you're called upon again, you guys should just get back to your usual lives..."

Although she said that, the three didn't move as they still needed answers.

"Actually, we also want to know what happened here..."

The woman looked at number one for a second before answering, "It was attacked by a mysterious force that came and took away all the chaos that existed in the hideout. The only one spared was number one."

The three looked shocked as they didn't expect such an answer, but now that they knew, it was even more imperative that they leave this place till it's safe to come came... Till number one comes back.

Thanking the woman for her help, the three promptly left. The hideout was as safe any more... The woman on the other hand, stayed in the office, thinking whether all those people in the city needed to die or not. "I suppose one could claim that nothing causes more chaos and panic than the brutal death of over a thousand people..."

Although their methods were cruel, she believed that it was all for the greater good. For a future devoid of division and separation among the classes. One where everybody was equal!

"We'll see how it goes..." she said, thinking of the perfect world.

. . .

*In a distant, and mystical land*

A statuesque man heaved a sigh of relief as the magnificent but giant doors behind him slowly closed. 'What an over bearing presence...' He thought, thinking back to his superior, the starry man. 'I think he's right though... we really should be concerned by Chaos' actions. Taking management of the After Realm is too fishy not to be a scheme set up to create chaos...'

They needed to keep a close eye on him, for he was chaos... Of course, this was all measly a misunderstanding, as the young man that appeared in the After Realm wasn't chose but the main character. A conflict among divinities all spurring from a misunderstanding, how laughable.
