Chapter 77 - Supreme Ruler

Thankfully, this plan was thought through as not long after, the summoned creature's stomach slowly decreased in size, the mania slowly infusing into every fibre of its being. And the moment the last bit of the mania was absorbed, the summoner, with a heavy heart, commanded the summoned creature to self-destruct; causing it to explode into a celebration of meat, blood, and bones.

Thanks to the quick wit of the extras, the crisis had successfully been averted.

. . .

*Back in the After Realm*

"How can I get this opportunity?" Raven asked with solid resolve, to which the main character laughed before saying, "Well you see, if you were to take over as Supreme ruler of this realm, you'd essentially become a god capable of drawing upon all the realm's power at your beck and call. And the cosmos will celebrate the birth of a new divinity, your very existence being recognized by the universe..."

Having heard the main character's words, Raven was shocked as what he said conflicted with her previous belief of there being no way one could become the Supreme ruler of a realm they themselves hadn't created. That was simply too outrageous! The only exception were the realms that had been incorporated into an inheritance, and even those were ultra rare, happening once every two millennia.

"How is that possible?? This place isn't part of any inheritance so how could I possibly become the Supreme ruler?."

'Oh how the ignorant live...' The main character thought, his face expressing poetic pity.

"There are other ways of becoming the Supreme ruler of a realm besides inheriting one. For example, if you were to slay the previous ruler, then you could receive the recognition of that realm and be throned as the new Supreme ruler. The only downside being the power restriction that restricts the eligibility of the challengers to cultivators below the Ascension realm.

Now here lies the impossibility, only a god can slay another god, so there is absolutely no way for anyone who haven't attained a god status, A.K.A reach the Ascension realms, to be able to kill a ruler of an actual realm. The crazy thing is, those who have ascended, with or without a realm to govern, are not able to inherit the title of Supreme ruler from those they have slain, making killing each other seem more of a revenger/hatred motivated act..."

As all these were new information for Raven, she couldn't really bring herself to trust in the words of the main character. What if he was one of those mischievous types who go around misleading people? Thinking up to there, Raven asked in a skeptic tone, "How do I know you're telling the truth? In all possibility, you might just be spouting nonsense, so why should I believe you?"

"Hah!" chuckling, the main character continued by saying, "What do I have to gain from lying to you? You flatter yourself too much... besides, lies, deceit, and trickery are only used against an opponent whom you can't face directly and win. Tell me, Raven, do you think I am in need of such tactics when I'm facing you?"

Although the main character had retracted his killing intent a while ago, Raven still felt shivers down her spine, hearing the main character say such cold words.

Not getting an answer, the main character repeated, "Do I?", his tone growing more and more pretentious by the second.

"N-No, of course not!"

"See, even you know I'm not so underhanded as to use such lowly tactics on my inferiors... Anyways, what I stated before was one way you could gain the recognition of a realm, of course there are other methods, some being less impossible than others. It really just depends on the method you want to use, thankfully, I have just the method that to accomplish the impossible. Granted I'm the only one capable of pulling it off but I needn't brag..."

He was obviously bragging... hearing his words, a thought appeared inside Raven's mind.

"What if I were to decide that I no longer want this opportunity? What then?"

"Well it's quite simple really," The main character passed for dramatic effect before saying, "I just kill you." Maintaining a warm welcoming smile from start to finish.

Although terrified of the main character act, Raven was too busy thinking whether she should laugh or cry, because on one hand, it was an opportunity of a life time. But on the other hand, there was an obvious catch to it, she just didn't know what it was. To top that all off, it seemed like she didn't even have the luxury of declining the offer as she was so plainly threatened with death!

'This may be a great opportunity but how can I be sure that it won't affect my Master in a negative way? All my actions are to please my Master, and besides if I become too much of a liability, I'll just off myself and save Master the trouble...', taking a deep breath before saying, "Okay let's do this!"

"Great!", the main character commented happily, "Now just follow my instructions and you will surly receive your blessing."

He then passed on the gourd-shapes crystal to her, commanding her not to let go of it at any point of the procedure, or that she would suffer the backlash of having used tricks by the realm itself, severely absenting the chances of her surviving. "Now enter a meditative state, cradling the core in your palms."

Doing as ordered, she sat down into a lotus position before controlling her breathing and entering a meditative state.

Drawing in the ample celestial energy that had made its way into the After Realm, the main character was able to see the difference between a human and a fragment of a divinity. The amount of energy Raven absorbed into her body was by far the most the main character had ever seen being absorbed. Even Yuno, who had an immortal body, was no match for such rates of absorption making him wonder whether or not things would go as he had planned.

'If it isn't how I planned, then I'd have had bolstered my enemies prowess by a whole lot... A whole lot!!'

With that, the main character started drawing a complex array around the cultivating Raven, using his precious Godly essence as fuel.

'I hope this works out in my favour, or else I'd have wasted my Godly essence for nothing...' He thought with tears in his eyes, heartbroken over the fact that he was now using his Godly essence for the creation of the array.
