Cairo still has a lot of things to say but Kira already starts walking away. Cairo worked hard to make the Crystal that would surely benefit himself and the Kingdom itself but turns out that he can't easily use it
Who wouldn't be disappointed when your hard work was not appreciated? This causes Cairo's spirit to lower and he clenches his fist before trying to calm himself
Several thoughts start to play inside Cairo's mind and he realizes a lot of things. Kira is certainly kind and she won't easily approve of this method but since she is going to call for a meeting, then the others would surely have a different opinion than the one she has
A lot of the other important figures in the Kingdom would surely approve of such a method to making Crystal Soul Shards. Even if the crystals cannot be produced on an extremely large scale, the Kingdom would still start producing a few of them
Besides, it's not like the worms cannot be used in other creatures except for humans. Even Cairo only uses the worms on humans since they were the ones that the past him uses as a host
If this method will also work in magic beasts, then it won't be too much of a problem. Kira might have only said those words earlier to test Cairo
Thinking of this, Cairo calmed down a bit and thanked himself that he also read books about politics and also studied how the real world works. If not, he won't have this much of an insight
Cairo also knows what will happen to mages with a machiavellian attitude, and to put it simply, it was extremely horrible. Kira might only be worried for him if he continued being this heartless for his goal
After all, mages that will do everything to achieve their goal are people you don't easily want to be with. Those mages with their merciless ways had more progress than the ones that stick to their morals
Because of that, they are hated and feared. Today, those mages will experiment on prisoners and weak people but what if their experiments' results gave them a lot of power?
Those mages then might change their test subjects into the stronger ones until they gained the power to make everyone their guinea pigs
Thus, they were punished heavily before killing them so that fewer people would follow in their footsteps
Kira is just worried for Cairo as she doesn't want the citizens to label Cairo as someone that has a machiavellian attitude and views
Cairo sighs at the things he realizes and he just decided to continue improving himself. It would only need some time before Cairo can have a steady supply of the crystals and he can now start his preparation to reaching the mage rank
Cairo immediately heads to his library and put various books on a table before sitting on a soft and comfortable couch
One of the Crystal Soul Shards appeared on top of Cairo's palm and he starts absorbing some of its powers and he can feel it nourishing his soul
Cairo's mind felt clearer than before and his brain is now highly functioning again
Despite the earlier 'setbacks', Cairo just ignored it and immersed himself with the sea of knowledge available for him to learn
----
Cairo studied magic itself and also the different branches of it like the elemental magic that contained most of his attributes
Cairo did this for almost two weeks before Kira asked to see him. As of now, the kid is standing in front of the Royal Court's door and he opened the door after a few seconds
Inside the court, Cairo was confused as it only contained Kira sitting on her throne. The other officials are not present which normally isn't the case
"Cairo" Kira called out and Cairo immediately walks towards her with Del trailing behind him. "Sister" Cairo greeted and Kira nodded her head
"I apologize for my action last two weeks. I even forgot to congratulate you for inventing an incredible thing" Kira started and Cairo stayed silent to listen to her
"In the past weeks, we tried your method of making the crystals and we ... we succeeded. You are the first mage to ever do something like this and it was a great feat. I'm really amazed"
"We also tried using the worms in the magic beasts and we succeeded. The parasites can be used aside from humans and it that is one thing less in the obstacles"
Cairo was confused at the mention of obstacles and he raises his brows at that. "Obstacles?"
"Yes, obstacles" Kira nodded her head. "For the first time in history, someone found a way to make artificial Crystal Soul Shards. That is definitely a thing that is enough to make a mage extremely proud but ... we cannot easily disclose the method"
"The Kingdom is already in an unstable position and if words got out that we have this method, we would have more enemies to the point that it will be the cause of our demise"
"The other Kingdoms and superpowers in the world certainly won't let us monopolize the method. If they learned about it, it wouldn't do us any good"
"That is why we cannot mass-produce the crystals to the point that every citizen in the Kingdom will know about it"
Cairo only thought of it in a simpler way and he forgot the other complications that it will have
"But don't worry, we can't produce tons of it but if we make the production small enough, it won't cause much attention and that is why I called you here. I have a proposition"
Cairo blinked his eyes as he doesn't know what Kira can possibly request for him to make their situation better. Cairo is just an Acolyte, what can he possibly do?
"Your lab is big enough and it can hold thousands of small magic beasts and more if we use humans which we wouldn't use much of. I can simply have your lab store thousands of magic beasts and in there, we can use the worms "
"The method wasn't exactly something that can be pinpoint into crystal soul shard production and it would be a big cover. We can simply make it look like you like experimenting on magic beasts. This can solve the problem of production. Thousands of crystals in two weeks are already an astronomical number! No Kingdon can rival that"
Cairo immediately nodded his head at that. As long as he can have a lot of the crystals and help Kira, he wouldn't mind it at all. However, Kira stops him from agreeing that easily
"Don't agree yet, listen to me first. Your image to the Kingdom's citizens ... needs to not be that good. I don't want to endanger your life and if we will make the crystals under your lab, you need to be the last person that our enemies will suspect the least "
"For me to keep you and the method safe, we need to show that you have quite an eccentric attitude and your talent is at most average. We need to make them think that without me providing resources for you, you wouldn't come far in being a mage "
"Choosing a random location to regularly put thousands of magic beasts would be suspicious. But if it is to an eccentric mage's lab that loves experimenting on magic beasts ... then it won't make people doubt it too much. We only need to make people think that you had the beasts regularly kill each other to explain how we need to replenish them every two weeks "
"This would totally ruin your reputation and.. you won't be able to exit your lab that much. This plan was suggested to me by the council and even I don't want to use it but ... for them, this is the best course of action "
"But of course, I will never force you to do anything! Just say no and I'll have them think of another plan"
Kira certainly wants to keep Cairo safe and sound but to do that, the Kingdom needs to produce a lot of powerful mages so that no one will think of bullying it. The stronger Larton Kingdom is, the safer Cairo would be!
If this isn't the move with the highest chance of not being discovered that was suggested to Kira, she wouldn't even think of something like this
How can Kira ruin Cairo's reputation? Who would want to be disliked, look down upon, and bethink of as weird? For Kira, no one wants that but she would be proven wrong
"It's okay, do it. I agree with this plan!" Cairo answered as if it wasn't his name that would be tarnish
Well, Cairo really wants to be in the dark. He doesn't want to enter the spotlight where he would be more visible to enemies and danger
Even back in the Blood Sand Town, Cairo manages to survive and kill some of his enemies because they were looking down at him. There is a huge advantage in being in the dark!
