Anxiously, I rang the doorbell and stood on the porch waiting with Laura, my social worker, for someone to open the door. In my head, I had already set my expectations for my new foster mum. She was going to be a chubby old woman with short grey hair and a terrible personality. But as the door opened my image of what she looked like flew out the window. Standing in front of me was a short brunette woman with a dazzling smile across her face. She seemed quite young, but that didn't bother me as at that moment I knew we were going to get on well.
I was enveloped in a huge bear hug filled with warmth and love. All my uncertainty and anxiety washed away with that single hug. I wanted to stay like that forever. She pulled herself away from the hug and introduced herself to me. Her name was perfect for her! Rose, she was thoughtful, friendly, sweet and beautiful - inside and out! It was nice to have a mother figure in my life. After all these years without my mother finally, I had someone to talk to; someone to understand me and most importantly love me.
Walking into the house I took in what was going to be my new home for the rest of my days as a child. The walls were littered with pictures of different children, the furniture was homey, the whole space felt comfortable and it was messy in a neat way. However, the best thing about this place is that anything and everything in this house had a purpose. Which now extends onto me. This was it and I wouldn't change it for anything else in the world.
Standing behind Rose was a group of kids. It was an eclectic mix of children from every single age, culture, race, and religion. But they were what made this place home and I knew I would fit into it. They all had warm smiles across their faces as they welcomed me inside. Laura and Rose walked into, what I'm guessing was, the kitchen and I was left to introduce myself to all of the kids. There were 10 of them but after the introductions my favourite by far was Emilia. Her warm smile, shy nature and large doe-like eyes captured my heart. She was very excited to hear that we shared the same name and wouldn't stop telling everyone about it!
When Laura stepped out of the kitchen she gave me a quick goodbye and drove back to the office. Rose stepped out a few seconds after and as soon as she did Emilia ran to her clinging onto her leg, begging Rose to let her show me around. It was the cutest thing ever! After some persuasion Emilia got up took my hand and began taking me around the whole place and eventually led me to my room. It was a basic white room with a simple bed and two doors, one leading to my bathroom and the other to my closet.
In the corner of the room was my luggage which was practically begging me to unpack it. Taking it all in I sat down on my mattress reflecting on what led me up into this point in my life. It was like a dream... or a nightmare because I wasn't so sure anymore. But I promised my dad that I would make the most of my life and that was the one promise I was gonna keep.

Bai ding ba doli party
Bamm bing ba doli party
Breding ba doli party, party pop
I danced to the song and watched the people on the dance floor dancing their hearts out. I continued vibing to the beats of the song, what a great song, what was it called again
Something then caught my eye. A giant green gummy bear was doing the renegade surprisingly well. It looked like it was having a lot of fun. I went towards the gummy bear and the next thing I knew, everyone around me was turning into gummy bears! BEST PARTY EVER!
Oh, I'm a gummy bear
Yes I'm a gummy bear
Oh, I'm a yummy, tummy, funny, lucky gummy bear
I continued vibing with my new gummy friends, they showed me their moves which were over the top and I showed them mine. Not to brag but mine were better (obviously...).
All of a sudden the dance floor started shaking. What the HELL, was that an earthquake?? The whole club started moving and I heard someone SHOUTING my name.
LUNA! LUNA! Get up, you are going to be late for school!! I groaned as the little chipmunk more commonly known as Mia shook me awake from my dream. God dammit I muttered as I opened my eyes and saw the time, I was so late! Shit shit shit, who goes late on their first day to school??
I jumped out of bed and ran to the closet. I picked out my usual high-waisted blue jeans, a black crop top and my doc martens. I rushed into my bathroom and quickly brushed my teeth and took a quick shower. I barely had time to do my make up so I just applied some mascara and lip gloss. I didn't really have time so I left my hair open which didn't look all that bad
I then ran out and grabbed my backpack and ran downstairs. Everyone was almost done with their breakfast and Rose remarked that I looked good but perhaps I should wake up earlier. I practically inhaled my breakfast.
I stumbled out with my backpack and was the last to sit in the car. Rose drove as fast as she could and thankfully we made it right on time. She wished us all a good day and told me to enjoy my first day. I looked at the school, it looked like your average school really, nothing about it truly stood out.
I rushed to the entrance and made my way through the maze of people. As I walked, I saw a lot of people giving me odd looks...wow...great way to greet the new student... I wonder if the school had an astronomy club and if I could join it, how amazing would it be if they did.
I was so lost in my own thoughts that I didn't notice where I was going and bumped right into a wall, what the hell, what kind of person randomly erects a wall in the middle of a hall, I faced the wall and let's just say it lacked all the characteristics of a wall...
